Replaces transmissions, bearings, gears, clutch assemblies;
Installs water pumps, radiators, batteries, brakes and other equipment;
Replaces hydraulic lines on equipment;
Performs tune-ups on cars, tractors, trucks, mowers, weed eaters, etc.;
Performs preventive maintenance changes fluids, filters, etc.;
Adjusts carburetors; changes air filters;
Performs electrical work on automotive equipment such as repairing or replacing alternators, starters, lights, wiring;
Performs related tasks as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of the methods, tools and equipment used in the repair of automotive passenger cars, trucks, construction and maintenance equipment; thorough knowledge of and skill in the use and operation of shop tools and machinery; ability to detect by inspection any worn or broken automotive parts; ability to adapt available tools and repair parts to specific repair problems; ability to interpret and work from sketches, diagrams and installation and repair charts; ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, and a minimum 5 years experience in repairing automotive and power driven equipment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
ASE Certification preferred. Possession of a valid Class B CDL valid in the State of Ohio with air brake endorsement (Class A preferred). Good driving record. Personal tool inventory valued at $5,000 and available to be used in this position. Subject to pre-and post-employment drug testing.
This position includes a $1500 annual tool allowance .

The selection process will consist of a competitive examination with credit for education and experience. A passing score must be obtained on the competitive examination in order to receive credit for education and experience. TEST WEIGHTS: Competitive Examination 70%, Education 20%, Experience 10%.
Candidates must meet the qualifications and requirements listed in the announcement at the time of examination and at the time of appointment.
NOTE: The competitive examination may be suspended if shown to be impractical because of an insufficient number of qualified candidates. The candidates will then be ranked in a standard manner based on 70% for qualifying, 20% for education, and 10% for experience.

C-TEC of Licking County is looking to hire a Diesel and Power EquipmentMechanics Instructor for the Secondary Center
Ability to plan and develop an instructional program in the Medium/Heavy Truck content area.
Knowledge of Medium/Heavy Truck Brakes, Diesel Engines, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Steering & Suspension, and Inspection Maintenance & Minor Repair.
Strong communication skills and the ability to both manage students and inspire students to learn, innovate, and create are essential.
Valid Licensure by the Ohio Department of Education in Medium/Heavy Truck [171200] OR High School Diploma AND a minimum of 5 years of experience in the Medium/Heavy Truck field.
ASE instructor certification preferred, ability to obtain if needed required.
Experience with ASE Program Certification desirable.
