We are seeking an experienced bioinformatician for the Tisch Cancer Center Bioinformatics for Next Generation Sequencing (BiNGS) shared resource facility, to lead transcriptomics and epigenetics data analysis projects in Cancer biology. The mission of BiNGS is to enhance scholarship and facilitate NGS data analysis in the ISMMS community by providing access to state-of-the-art tools and training. The BiNGS staff support a broad range of bioinformatics analyses for multiple applications spanning bulk ATAC-, RNA-, and ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN and HiC, single cell ATAC- and RNA-seq, single cell Multiome and Spatial Transcriptomics, WGS and WES. BiNGS further provides services for data management, bioinformatics tools development, access to biocomputing resources, web-based app development, and advanced computational training in data analysis. We are focused on delivering a comprehensive, rapid and user-friendly service. More specifically, we are working on multiple projects together with PIs in the Tisch Cancer Center and the broader Mount Sinai community to analyze NGS related datasets. For example, we are working to understand the role of RAS mutations in the development of Leukemia utilizing single cell RNA- and ATAC-seq; understand the role of histone variants in cancer development utilizing enhancers analysis, transcriptomic analysis, open chromatin analysis and transcription factor network analysis; in another project, we are utilizing bulk and single cell, and spatial transcriptomics to understand breast cancer metastasis to bone. Finally, we are utilizing FIBER-seq (third generation PacBio long read sequencing), to better understand how chromatin remodelers shape the chromatin landscape. We are seeking a highly motivated senior Bioinformatic Scientist who wants the opportunity to significantly impact the growth and success of our research programs, the bioinformatics core and the services we provide. The candidate will work closely with investigators to facilitate and enhance the processing of their projects. Overview As part of the Environmental Services team, the Waxer Stripper is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Medical Center's facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and presentable environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. Strips, waxes, and buffs floors, utilizing appropriate scrubbing and buffing machines, and cleaning chemicals to restore floor finishes. Additionally, performs the duties of an Environmental Worker as needed. Responsibilities * Strips, waxes, buffs floors using appropriate floor scrubbing, floor buffing machines, and cleaning chemicals. * Sweeps, dusts, vacuums, scrubs, wipes, polishes, and mops hallways, patient's rooms, offices, bathrooms, and other assigned areas of the Medical Center, including outside properties. * Moves beds, tables, desks, chairs, copy machines, boxes, and other furniture. * Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to the Manager or Team Leader immediately. Reports all accidents/incidents in accordance with established policies and procedures. Complete and file reports as directed. * Maintains the care and use of supplies, equipment, and appearance of work areas. Notifies the Manager or Team Lead of any equipment issues, or if stock levels of supplies, equipment, etc. are low. * Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to assure patient rights are protected. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Environmental Services or housekeeping experience a plus. Prior experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment a plus. Skills: Ability to operate automatic floor scrubbing machines and floor buffers. Overview The Barista is responsible for creating and serving a variety of chilled and hot beverages, while providing exceptional customer service. In addition, the Barista takes orders, completes financial transactions, and maintains a clean and orderly area. Responsibilities * Greets customers promptly as they approach the counter. Maintains a positive attitude and provides excellent service during each transaction, by smiling and engaging in small talk when possible. * Takes the customer's order and prepares the order according to brand specifications and/or the customer's request. * Creates and serves chilled and hot beverages, such as coffees, teas, cappuccinos, espressos, lattes, and fruit blended drinks. * Effectively and efficiently completes the financial transaction, and maintains the balance of the cash drawer at all times. * Maintains a neat and clean station, and presentable work area. * Completes side work as needed: stocks bread, refills salad bar, replenishes condiment stands, and wrap cookies. Overview Plans, supervises and performs research relating to paraphysiological changes in the heart and skeletal muscles in consultation with the Research Director Responsibilities * Prepares experimental findings for publication and presentation at conferences and for grant proposals. * Teaches research personnel how to utilize the specialized electrophysiological equipment and computer software packages; provides clinical supervision for Research Assistant, Research Technician and Research Fellow. * Performs in vivo monitoring of various systems in rats. * Performs microdissections to isolate nerve muscle biopsies and hearts from rats. * Utilizes the in vitro EMG chamber and monitors nerve action potential, muscle action potential and other responses to nerve and/or muscle stimulation in rats during fatigue and drug exposure. * Prepares frozen sections of skeletal muscles and measures changes in amplitude and time course of the responses of heart and skeletal muscle using a specialized software package. * Performs all statistical analysis of data using Sigmastat package and generates graphs representing numerical changes in the responses. * Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. * Checks that equipment is functioning properly; reports any problems or malfunctions to Director. Qualifications Education: Medical Degree or PhD in Biology with specialty field in Physiology. Experience: 3-5 years of experience in electrophysiological studies on function of heart and skeletal muscles. Skills: Good oral and written communication skills. Skilled in the microdissections of tissue. Skilled in operation of computers and electrophysiological equipment. Knowledge of research grant preparation.
