The Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine, aims to provide the groundwork for creative entrepreneurship to tackle the issues of tomorrow. To promote individual growth, the college offers opportunities for students to become involved in student life. The campus is a vibrant hub of activity. Activities like outdoor excursions, guest artist lectures, movie nights, ping pong tournaments and midnight pancake breakfasts allow students the opportunity to not only grow, but have fun and meet others with similar interests. The academics offered at Maine College include BFA, MA and Art Education degrees. Artists can pursue studies in a variety of mediums, including: * Ceramics * Metalsmithing and Jewelry * Painting * Photography * Sculpture * Woodworking and Furniture Design The college strives to make education accessible to all students by providing financial aid to a large portion of its student body through federal, state and institutional programs. Each year, a full-tuition scholarship is awarded to a high school student who demonstrates exceptional artistic and academic excellence. A number of other scholarships are available to students who apply. Students may apply to the school at any time, as it determines admissions on a rolling basis.
