Unit Bio:
The NICU/CCN in The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital is a 51 bed level lll-lV unit. This is the largest ICU in the state of Maine. We have single rooms with state-of-the-art equipment and work closely with all disciplines- surgical, cardiac, GI, genetics, renal, palliative care etc. We have Neonatologists and APP's covering 24/7 with a nursing staff of 150. We have an active critical care transport team and a nurse driven PICC Team. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit -31 beds & Continuing Care Nursery - 20 Beds
Summary:
The Nursing Unit Secretary role performs clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties. This role has the responsibility for advanced unit involvement in projects and house-wide activities. Strong candidates for this position will possess excellent customer service skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to communicate with team members, as well as patients and their families effectively.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
* Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
* License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.
* Experience: Three years of secretarial experience with at least one year within MaineHealth required. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Nursing Unit Secretary I role.

Summary:

Our unit includes 31 NICU beds and 20 CCN beds, all in private, single-patient rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
Our team provides highly specialized care and works collaboratively across multiple disciplines, including surgical, cardiac, gastrointestinal, genetics, renal, and palliative care services. The unit is supported 24/7 by Neonatologists and Advanced Practice Providers, alongside a nursing staff of more than 150 caregivers. Additional specialized services include an active critical care transport team and a nurse-driven PICC team.
Position Summary
The Nursing Unit Secretary plays a vital role in supporting unit operations by performing clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties. This role helps ensure smooth communication, organization, and workflow within the NICU/CCN, contributing to exceptional patient and family care.
Schedule & Location
* Onsite at MaineHealth's flagship hospital, Maine Medical Center

* Night shift position
* 36 hours per week
* Three 12-hour shifts per week
