The Opportunity: MaineGeneral Health is seeking a Charge Nurse (RN) for our Emergency Department team at the Thayer Center for Health in Waterville.
This position is 36 hours per week on night shift (6:45p-7:15a). You will work two 12 hour shifts per week as Charge Nurse, and one 12 hour shift per week as a Staff Nurse in the Emergency Department.
The Work:
Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift. Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, and patient acuity.
Provides direct patient care as needed. Floats between staff to assist with problem solving. May take patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes. Responds to complaints about patient care and related services, and manages through established channels.
Performs responsibility of underlying job, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers. Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe and effective patient care.
You Have:
Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain same in a timely fashion
Prior/recent RN experience working in an ER environment
Preferred certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, MOAB, and TNCC

About the Role
As a Community Residential Support Worker, you'll work directly with adults experiencing severe and prolonged mental illness in a residential and community setting. What You'll Be Doing
Supporting clients with skills of daily living, including cooking, cleaning, medication supervision, and personal care
Weekly coordination with community integration worker (CIW) and program manager (PM) regarding needs of community rehabilitative services (CRS) clients
Maintaining boundaries and distinction between approaches utilized with PNMI clients vs CRS clients (e.g., residential treatment vs community-based service)
Maintaining effective communication and routine correspondence with CIW and PM
Ability to take direction - and then work independently without direct oversight - from CIW and/or PM
Ability to independently initiate and develop rapport with clients
Scheduling and providing transportation and accompaniment for clients with appointments
Ability to independently initiate contact with clients, providers, family/guardians; as well as skills with follow-through
Maintaining both task-oriented and team-oriented approaches
Promoting autonomy with use of client-centered approach
Proficient with clinical documentation, including capturing clients' mood, affect, presentation, clinical intervention provided, and client response to staff interventions
Providing compassionate, practical counseling in moments of stress or crisis
Encouraging participation in social activities, wellness planning, and goal setting
Monitoring client safety, home cleanliness, and medication supplies
Participating in regular team meetings, staff supervision, and safety drills
Coordinating with case managers, families, healthcare providers, and other supports
Being flexible and adaptable, working at different program sites based on need
Helping maintain a clean, safe, and supportive home environment
Performing minor home maintenance duties (snow shoveling, lawn care, etc.)
