Experience:
1. Two Years recent med-surg experience in an acute or long-term care setting, rehabilitation, home care, or hospice setting preferred.
Education:
1. RN Diploma, ASN required.
2. BSN preferred.
Licensures/Certifications:
1. Current license to practice nursing in PA.
2. Valid Driver's license and automobile insurance.
3. Current CPR certification preferred.
4. Certification in specialty area of nursing preferred.
Requirements:

The Clinical Nurse I (CN I -registerednurse) promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families. For employees working in UCMC Psychiatric Services, NCI-APS (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills) Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire. | No experience required.
PATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY)
Engages in population appropriate communication. Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment. Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient. Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary. Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems. Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately. Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. As a RegisteredNurse in the Perioperative Fellowship Program, you will learn both the circulating and scrub role as you rotate through specialties including: General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, Neurology, Plastics, Vascular, Robotics, etc. You will build on basic skills as you follow didactic modules to match your weekly goals. Nurses will also attend in-services and staff meetings. At the end of the course, all participants must sit for the Periop 101 exam. (You may be required to purchase some educational materials, such as a textbook.)
Schedule:
Fulltime, Monday - Friday: 7:00am - 3:30pm
Off-shift rotations occur later in orientation to experience different shifts as well as Buddy-Call
Must live within 30 minutes of Hospital or be willing to stay onsite when on Call.
Your permanent schedule following orientation is TBD, based on campus needs.
