Main Line Health's Nurse Extern Program As a Nurse Extern at Main Line Health, you will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic clinical environment, supporting our nursingstaff and providing exceptional care to patients. As a Nurse Extern, you will provide direct care to patient in a nursing support position. 5 South is a 22-bed medical telemetry unit serving young adults to geriatric patients with a variety of medical diagnoses which may require telemetry monitoring. Admitting diagnoses include, but are not limited to: metabolic disorders, stable cardiovascular, renal, GI bleed, substance abuse withdrawal, diabetes, and respiratory conditions. This unit provides peritoneal dialysis services for all peritoneal dialysis patients within the hospital, and plasmapheresis requiring this treatment. Initial patient placement is first determined by the admitting diagnosis.

As a Registered Nurse in the Perioperative Fellowship Program, you will learn both the circulating and scrub role as you rotate through specialties including: General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, Neurology, Plastics, Vascular, Robotics, etc. You will build on basic skills as you follow didactic modules to match your weekly goals. Nurses will also attend in-services and staff meetings. At the end of the course, all participants must sit for the Periop 101 exam. (You may be required to purchase some educational materials, such as a textbook.)

Fulltime, Monday - Friday: 7:00am - 3:30pm
Off-shift rotations occur later in orientation to experience different shifts as well as Buddy-Call
Must live within 30 minutes of Hospital or be willing to stay onsite when on Call.
