How you'll contribute
The Maintenance Worker assists in assigned activities of plant operation functions which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utility systems and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition. Assists in maintaining performance improvement activities within the facility and participates in CQI activities. Performs general maintenance and repair duties to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Physical Plant. The City of Beavercreek is accepting applications for seasonal Maintenance Workers in the Public Services (Streets, Traffic, Fleet, Facilities), Parks, and Cemetery Divisions. This position works from March through October with the following schedule: Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30pm, 40 hours per week. Safety apparel provided, including safety glasses, ear protection, high visibility shirts, and steel toe boots.
GENERAL NATURE OF WORK: This is seasonal semi-skilled work in the Public Services Department. An employee in this class is responsible for the performance of a variety of types of physical labor in the maintenance and upkeep of the City of Beavercreek recreational facilities, parks, and grounds. Duties are performed under the direction of the Section Leader or designee.
EQUIPMENT & JOB LOCATION: This position requires general knowledge of the operation of equipment, including: pickup truck, dump truck, snow plow, commercial mower, weed eater, utility vehicle, small power tools, and a variety of hand and garden tools. The primary work site is the Municipal Maintenance Facility, city-owned facilities and grounds, and any roadways within the city limits of Beavercreek.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Operates a variety of vehicles, machines, and equipment appropriate to job related tasks.
Performs any and all work necessary in maintaining and repairing City of Beavercreek recreational facilities, parks, and grounds.
Performs various grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, pruning, aerating, fertilizing, pest control, leaf removal, tree removal and cleanup, athletic field maintenance, and landscape bed maintenance.

Must be in good physical condition, i.e. ability to pass all required physical exams and drug testing as required by the State of Ohio and/or the City of Beavercreek.

Maintenance Workers often work with hazardous equipment and in hazardous situations. Injuries are possible from electrical shocks, cuts, or falls. They are often exposed to unusual or harsh elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. They frequently work in high places, such as on ladders and roofs.
Physical Requirements
Significant physical activity is required to frequently walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, lift, grasp, and feel. Must be able to constantly lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds, to often lift 50-75 pounds, and to occasionally lift 75-100 pounds; to stand or walk for a minimum of eight (8) hours a day; and to work at heights of up to forty (40) feet.
