Senior Resource Group maintenance director job description

Keeping our residents safe and comfortable will be your main objective. You will have overall responsibility for ensuring the physical plant, FF&E, and grounds are maintained in excellent condition. Plan, organize, schedule, and staff a broad range of activities performed by Maintenance Department.

Inspect facility and equipment to determine need and extent of service, and equipment required. Perform all needed work/repairs that are in the scope of normal practice.

Assign workers to duties such as maintenance, repair, or renovation and obtain bids for additional work from outside contractors.

Follow preventative maintenance schedule in order to control costs. Maintain preventative maintenance records.

Purchase building and maintenance supplies, machinery, equipment, and furniture. Obtains, reviews and evaluates bids from outside contractors as needed.
Prepare evacuation and emergency procedures. Perform all maintenance functions inside and outside the facility.

Qualifications

Technical degree from a two-year college or vocational school; or five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and heating/air conditioning mechanical equipment and systems. Two years supervisory experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:

Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
Acts as a member of the Shelter Services Senior Leadership Team and functions in a Director on Call capacity, as needed.
Works with the Executive Director, Operations Director, and Facility Operations to develop facility maintenance plans and corresponding annual budget for the department; monitors plan and budget to ensure that goals in both are met.
Directs employees engaged in: cleaning, painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings; maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems; grounds maintenance such as lawn mowing, landscaping & snow removal. Evaluates completed work for conformance to specifications and standards.
Conducts facility walk through weekly to inspect for maintenance issues. Assigns work to the facilities team in order to best maximize resources.

Must be able to read, write and follow the instructions. Basic computer skills (email and work tickets) are essential.

Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record, and ability to work at various locations during the course of a work day.
Must be flexible in work scheduling to fulfill a variety of work shifts including work days and shift schedules (morning, noon, night) on occasion.
