The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing basic maintenance, repair, and preventive tasks to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of production equipment and facilities in a food manufacturing environment. This is an entry-level position working under direct supervision and providing support to senior technicians and the Maintenance Manager.
The shift for this position is Wednesday-Sunday, 1:00pm-9:30pm with overtime as needed.
What You'll Do:
Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) and basic repairs on production, packaging, and facility equipment.
Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues on food processing and packaging equipment.
Replace and adjust belts, bearings, seals, motors, and other basic mechanical components as directed.
Follow all company safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication (HazCom), and Cal/OSHA requirements.
Maintain accurate and timely maintenance records, work orders, and parts usage documentation.
Clean, lubricate, and inspect machinery in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules.
Support production teams during line changeovers, startups, and equipment setups.
Immediately report unsafe conditions, near misses, or equipment malfunctions to supervision.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
Other duties as assigned and necessary.
What You'll Need:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
0-2 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and safe maintenance practices.
Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and safety guidelines.
Basic computer literacy for completing work orders and maintenance logs.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced production setting.

Work Environment:
This position operates in a food manufacturing facility where exposure to noise, temperature changes, wet floors, and moving mechanical parts may occur. All work must be performed in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company food safety standards.

The Industrial Maintenance Technician will operate in a safe and efficient manner of troubleshooting and repairing equipment and machinery. The primary duties include:
MAINTENANCE
Performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment and provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production. Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled productions runs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position requires the ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel and squat for extended periods. In a typical 8 hour shift the employee can expect to spend about 50% of their time standing and walking to different areas in the plant, approximately 20% kneeling and the remainder of the time in various other positions, such as crouching and sitting.

Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out
Communicates problems encountered throughout the shift to the production supervisor, maintenance lead acting supervisor or maintenance supervisor
Operates any equipment needed to perform job
Repair parts that require minor machine work & welding using gas & electric welding equipment
Must be capable of covering both mechanical and electrical equipment without support on off shifts
Has operating knowledge of all production & service equipment
Performs other related duties to contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervision
Qualifications
5+ years electrical maintenance experience with strong electrical/mechanical knowledge of industrial systems and automated technologies
2 year electrical degree or similar education preferred but not required
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
Basic computer skills required

Diagnose and repair complex electro-mechanical problems with manufacturing equipment
Perform simple to complex mechanical Preventative Maintenance Tasks following instructions
Perform detailed setup on equipment including recipe changes and control adjustments
Repair and keep mechanical machine components in top operating condition
Intermediate understanding of electrical principles such as voltage, current and resistance
