The security certified technician will be responsible for the following:
Access Control Systems
Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and testing of badge readers, control panels, door controllers, and associated wiring.
Troubleshoot and repair non-functioning badge readers or access control panels.
Replace or update faulty components including badge readers, panels, relays, and power supplies.
Video Surveillance Systems
Maintain and troubleshoot surveillance cameras.
Replace or reposition malfunctioning cameras.
Maintain camera lens cleanliness and verify proper video quality and coverage.
Locking Hardware
Inspect and maintain door locking hardware including maglocks, electric strikes, REX devices, and motion sensors.
Ensure proper alignment and secure operation of locking systems.
Emergency Response & On-Call Support
Respond to urgent system failures or access issues during business hours and on-call.
Provide rapid diagnostics and temporary fixes to restore functionality.
Requirements:

Position Summary
The Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical power distribution, control, and protection systems across Samsung Austin Foundry site(s). This role supports daily operations and long-term reliability of the plant's infrastructure systems, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on technical skills, a solid understanding of industrial electrical systems, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Role and Responsibilities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems including switchgear, MCCs, transformers, panelboards, and lighting systems.
Troubleshoot and repair faults in motors, drives, and control circuits to maintain uptime and reliability.
Support commissioning, start-up, and system energization activities for new equipment and upgrades.
Perform functional testing on protection devices and perform electrical diagnostic testing (insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, relay tests, thermography, etc.).
Maintain and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) - Yaskawa, Mitsubishi, ABB, or equivalent - ensuring performance and parameter integrity.
Assist with Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, including battery inspection, load transfer testing, and alarm diagnostics.
Support networked electrical systems and SCADA interfaces (Ethernet/IP, fiber, industrial networking).
Document all maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ensure accurate work order closure.
Collaborate with operations, engineering, and contractor teams to resolve issues and improve system performance.
Follow all site safety procedures and apply NFPA 70E and 70B principles to all work activities.
Participate in continuous improvement, reliability initiatives, and root-cause analysis investigations.
Skills and Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: Minimum 5 years of industrial or manufacturing electrical maintenance experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent certification in Electrical, Industrial Maintenance, or related field highly preferred.
VFD experience (Yaskawa, Mitsubishi, or equivalent).
UPS system experience (Eaton, Liebert, or equivalent).

The current base salary range for this role is between $21.00 - $60.40. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Incumbents may enter as an apprentice to perform job tasks under direct supervision and training. Pay increments are directly tied to the step levels as you progress through the program.

Apprentice Electric Lineman - Groundman must possess a valid Texas driver's license upon hiring and acquire a Class "A" CDL, learn and demonstrate the ability to climb poles, actively progress in the first 1000 hours of textbook instruction and first year of on-the-job skills training with the City of Georgetown's Line Technician Training Program within six (6) month evaluation period.
Advancement to next level: Apprentice Electric Lineman - Groundman must satisfactorily complete the first 2000 hours of textbook training and one (1) year of on-the-job skills training as specified with the City of Georgetown's Line Technician Training Program to be verified by mentor and program administrator; be able to demonstrate duties and limitations of Apprentice Electric Lineman Grade C; and knowledgeable of the adopted Safety Handbook as it applies to the City of Georgetown Electric Lineman.
In addition to the above Apprentice Electric Lineman, groundman advancing to the next level must also learn and demonstrate the ability to climb poles; perform hurt-man rescue by pole and bucket; proper use of personal protective gear; knowledge of equipment grounding; basic math calculations and be able to demonstrate to mentor and program administrator.
Minimum Requirements Electric Journeyman Lineman: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be certified by the Department of Labor (DOL) as a Journeyman Lineman. If you are not a DOL Certified Journeyman Lineman, then you must receive a certificate of skills from the City's Apprentice Lineman Training Program or an accredited approved alternate.
