Position Overview The Lead Low-Voltage Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of structured cabling, custom-integrated audio/video systems, lighting controls, motorized shading, security systems, and home automation technologies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities System Installation Lead the installation of low-voltage systems, from rough-in, through trim, into final installation. Ensure all phases of work meet design specifications, industry standards, and project timelines. Technical Leadership Serve as the primary on-site contact for project progress, technical issues, and quality assurance. Provide leadership, guidance, and training to Field Technicians to ensure team success. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues during the installation and testing phases. Project Collaboration Cooperate with the Project Manager/Coordinator and other stakeholders to plan work schedules, material delivery, and project milestones. Communicate project updates, challenges, and requirements to the Project Manager/Coordinator. Assist with equipment programming, testing, and commissioning to ensure full system functionality. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate documentation of installation work, wiring diagrams, and system configurations. Skills and Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in high- or low-voltage system installation, including structured cabling, audio/video, security, lighting, and home automation. Proven leadership abilities with experience supervising field teams and coordinating on-site work. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system schematics. Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and best practices for residential and light commercial installations. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with basic apps/software, test equipment, and hand/power tools. Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with team members, clients, and other trades. Must be licensed in the state of Oregon (LE-A) and/or Washington (O-6), and the motivation/ability to procure reciprocal licensing as needed. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working on construction sites, in tight spaces, and on elevated surfaces. Travel Occasional travel may be required for on-site projects and training, typically within 1-2 hours of the Portland Metro area.
