SUMMARY
At DSV Road Transport, the field maintenance support technician provides on-site, mobile maintenance and technical support across assigned regions to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient fleet operations. This role combines in-depth Class 8 diesel and trailer repair knowledge with exceptional communication and customer service skills. The Technician serves as a liaison between drivers, vendors, and internal departments while performing light repairs, coordinating service needs, and ensuring all maintenance activities meet DSV standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Perform light repair and maintenance work on Class 8 tractors and trailers, including but not limited to: lights, mudflaps, hoses, minor mechanical adjustments, and DOT inspections.
* Respond to field service needs and driver breakdowns within assigned region, ensuring timely and safe resolution.
* Conduct equipment condition assessments and determine appropriate repair paths (mobile repair vs. shop/vendor).
* Initiate service and repair work by diagnosing issues, developing repair estimates, verifying warranty/service coverage, and writing repair orders (ROs).
* Maintain company-provided tools, truck, and equipment in clean, safe operating condition.
* Serve as a mobile communicator and liaison between drivers, maintenance vendors, dispatch, and internal departments.
* Ensure driver concerns, equipment issues, and safety needs are accurately captured and communicated to vendors and internal stakeholders.
* Follow up with repair shops and vendors to verify recommended services are completed correctly and documented.
* Maintain strong, professional relationships with external repair partners to ensure timely and cost-effective service delivery.
* Record accurate, detailed, and complete repair orders and service documentation.
* Enter ROs and maintenance data into required systems (e.g., service databases, internal tracking tools).
* Assist with manufacturer warranty processing when applicable.
* Support parts procurement as needed, including sourcing, ordering, and tracking materials.
* Prepare, coordinate, and maintain licensing, permitting, and compliance documentation for assigned equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

* Inspects control panel, junction boxes, and mission control box to check for proper functionality.
* Troubleshoots systems; tests, locates problems, and repairs electrical circuits and equipment.
* Performs preventative maintenance in control panels; cleans junction boxes, checks voltage and amperage, and inspects fuses, relays, and wiring connections.
* Repairs and/or replaces equipment as needed.

Required Education and Experience

* At least two (2) years of journeyman electrician level experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications

Function as a Foreman for Bergelectric Corp.; monitoring installations and ensuring work is performed according to Bergelectric Corp. standards and project specifications. Work cooperatively with the general contractor and/or customer in managing the project, project schedule and employees. Responsible for maintaining productivity, safety, quality control, labor cost, scheduling, movement of manpower, procurement of materials and any other activities impacting the successful completion of the project. This is considered to be a safety sensitive position.
Responsibilities
Achieve Bergelectric Corp. productivity objectives by effectively managing and assigning tasks to crew members, while maintaining an accurate labor tracking log.
Establish project goals and monitor success in reaching those objectives on an ongoing basis.
Manage purchase orders and ensure ordered materials are received while adhering to bulk buy material procedures.
Adhere to project contract document changes and Bergelectric Corp. change.

Fully utilize a prefabrication facility and company-wide installation methods and policies.
Ensure the proper safety equipment, materials and tools are onsite to perform the required work.

Qualifications

Strong, first-hand knowledge and experience related to scheduling, material lead times, product knowledge and installation durations.
Solid understanding of the electrical codes and installation methods.
Well-versed in the installation of power systems: lighting, fire protection, security and data networks.
Knowledgeable regarding the build, installation and maintenance of control panels
Comfortable utilizing Electrical Single Line blueprints.
Experience in verifying the compliance and functionality of installations.

Physical Demands

Perform ladder climbing, wire pulling and conduit pulling.
