Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Licensed Electrician to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of a variety of HVAC and electrical systems, including chillers, cooling towers, CRAH units, air handlers, VAVs, FTBs, and related plant equipment. You will play a key part in ensuring a safe workplace, driving safety awareness, and leading by example.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and repair HVAC and electrical equipment in plant and office environments.
Perform predictive, preventive, and proactive electrical maintenance and analysis.
Ensure all work complies with federal, state, and local codes and regulations.
Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures using hand and power tools.
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components.
Test electrical systems and circuits using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure safety and compatibility.
Diagnose and resolve malfunctions in systems and components using test equipment and hand tools.
Advise management immediately if continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Provide emergency support by operating generators, UPSs, switchgears, and other critical systems.
Assist with inspection and maintenance of life safety systems.
Place conduit and pull wires or cables through designated areas as required.
Plan and install wiring and equipment based on job specifications and blueprints.
Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and replacements.
Instruct and mentor lower-level technicians and guide temporary or seasonal employees.
Develop and communicate schedules for periodic testing of critical equipment

Required Qualifications:
State Electrician's License (Arizona)
5+ years of experience as an electrician (including professional experience, apprenticeship, or relevant education such as a BS in Electrical Engineering)
High School Diploma or GED

What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.

Skills You'll Need:
Experience. Previous experience in construction or industrial electrical work is preferred.

The Electrical Maintenance Technician will have complete involvement in routine and emergency corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance for all electrical, mechanical and electromechanical equipment and their related controls. It can also become a key player in plant layout, installation, and start-up of new equipment.
Duties To Include (not Limited To)
* Repairs or replaces-in-kind existing production and material equipment
* Assists in maintaining an inventory of critical and other repair parts to ensure uninterrupted productivity
* Determine the most cost-effective repair or upgrade, disassemble equipment, repair defective components, reassemble and start-up equipment
* Documents maintenance repairs and equipment histories
* Installs and modifies machinery and equipment, including one-off assignments, as required by production, engineering, and other personnel
* Services and repairs programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motors, and drives
* Assembles and maintains electrical and electronic devices and systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and other production mechanical systems, as necessary
An Electrical Maintenance Technician Will Possess And Demonstrate
* The ability to read and interpret electrical / electronic schematics, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams, ladder diagrams, PLC programs, instrumentation and piping diagrams, equipment service manuals, and operating manuals
* The ability to diagnose and repair or replace-in-kind electromechanical systems and the use of electromechanical tools and test equipment
* A comprehensive understanding of how these technologies and skills are linked together to create a totally productive manufacturing system
* Oral and written communication skills
* Personal computer operation
* High established safety policies, standards, practices, and procedures aligned to company
Education / Position Requirements
* Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical / electronics, electro-mechanical, or industrial maintenance
* An electronics technician degree from an accredited school
* Demonstrated experience with any or all of the following is a strong plus:
* AC / DC Drives
* Automation
* Chain / Belt Conveyors
* Instrumentation
* Literacy in blueprints and schematics
* Power Distribution
* This person should be very customer-oriented, organized, and have a helpful and motivated work ethic. It must be able to work in a team environment, be an excellent communicator, cooperative, organized and attentive to detail and the ability to read and write and communicate in English.
The salary range for this position is $44.84 per hour, plus shift differential depending on your role, level, and location. The Journeyman Electrician is a skilled field technician responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems per the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA standards, NFPA 70E guidelines, and 48 Electric's internal policies. Under general supervision of the Water Operations Manager, the Plant Electrician is responsible for performing skilled level electrical work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade. This position may be assigned to shop or field installation tasks. This position may require to be on-call after hours, holidays, and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school Diploma or GED equivalent and completion of a recognized four year electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent training; or three years of experience as a skilled controls electrician; Or any other combination of experience, training and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. Knowledge of NFPA70E is required. Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License and be able to meet the Community's insurance carrier requirements. Must successfully complete a background check
Examples of Duties:
