Preferred to have journeyman's papers or equivalent degree / Certification with 3 to 5 years' of experience performing complex work in industrial maintenance as a Maintenance Electrician. Must evidence ability in performing complex electrical work in industrial maintenance. Primary Responsibilities Performs any combination of (but not limited to) the following duties according to specific department guidelines: • Determine the existence of electrical hazards and problems. Safely isolate, ground, and prepare circuits and electrical apparatus to enable repairs. • Have knowledge of and use the required personal protective equipment to protect against arc flash and shock. • Experience in reading and troubleshooting from blueprints & schematics with system voltages 240 and 480 three-phase systems. • Troubleshoot and maintain motor control centers, motor start circuits, control loops, generators, high voltage switchgear, protective relaying, and related equipment. • Read/interpret engineering drawings and manuals to install, calibrate and maintain electrical apparatus. Work from complex engineering and manufacturers drawings or manuals to complete projects and assigned work. • Install electrical conduit, pull and terminate wiring. • Ability to use electrical/electronic testing equipment to such as multi-meters, ammeters, megohm meters, high potential testers, oscilloscopes, digital probes to troubleshoot and repair equipment. • Use hand and power tools related to the electrical trades. • Install and maintain control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, circuit breakers, and control panels. • Install and maintain drive systems such as variable frequency drives, eddy current, and DC drives. • Install and maintain (point to point wiring, equipment replacement) programmable logic control systems (PLC). • Install and calibrate pressure, temperature, flow, and level controls. • Observe installed systems to detect hazards and determine the need for adjustments or modifications. • Design layout work on panels, set up complex control systems, interpret and alter engineering drawings and wiring diagrams if required. • Repair or replace faulty electrical equipment, including electronic controls, meters, outlets, panels and small mechanical devices such as motors. • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. • Effectively communicate problems and solutions to resolve electrical problems. • Participate in the on-the-job training of line mechanics and apprentices as needed. • Use computerized maintenance system to retrieve and enter information. • Observe safe work practices and ensure work does not endanger others. • Perform other duties as required.
