Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Behaviors Required: · High School Graduate or equivalent (GED). · Associates degree with a Technical focus and 7 years of related experience in specific industry; or, 10 years of experience in specific industry. · Proficiency in predictive technologies including vibration analysis or laser interferometer operations, precision alignments, and maintenance of applicable process equipment. · Understands electrical, mechanical, fluid power and control systems. Can analyze the problem, synthesize alternative solutions, and perform repairs. · Must be able to use hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate. · May be required to travel. · Six Sigma experience desired. We are looking for an advanced Maintenance Mechanic who will join our Scotts team in Channahon, IL. What you'll do in this role: Troubleshoot and perform repairs and maintenance on parts of equipment including machines including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic repairs. Repair production line equipment including conveyor belts, packaging equipment, grinding equipment and stacking equipment. May perform or assist in the installation of machinery and equipment. Cut and welding, including light steel fabrication. Inspects and adjusts equipment. Assist in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment. Performs maintenance duties or other duties as assigned. What you'll need to be successful: Prior relevant maintenance experience. Manufacturing experience preferred. Ability for prolonged and repetitive motions of standing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, bending, climbing, reaching overhead and arms/hands dexterity. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Teachable attitude and ability to learn on the job in a fast paced environment. Ability to read numbers, product descriptions, and maintain written records. Ability to push button, monitor controls, and perform basic math functions.
