An Industrial Maintenance Electrician performs a large variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy. They coordinate, participate, assist, construct, fabricate, install, repair and maintain generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems and electronic controls as required for plant operations. Qualifications An Industrial Maintenance Electrician's responsibilities include the following: Assist supervisor in planning, scheduling and assigning various jobs. Order parts and materials for electrical department from warehouse and purchasing department as required to install and maintain equipment. Locate, diagnose and repair troubles in electrical systems and equipment. Works with electrical hand and power tools, measuring and testing instruments. Assist maintenance millwrights in dismantling or partially dismantling machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble and make vital repairs or adjustments as required. Uses and interprets for others complicated blueprints and drawings. Troubleshoots breakdowns to resolve cause of trouble while keeping work of unit on schedule. Always follow safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment (PPE). Communicate work performed to their supervisor, next shift, and maintenance scheduler. Keep work area clean, safe, and orderly. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
