The Role: We are looking for our next Maintenance and Reliability Manager within our Maintenance Team. The Maintenance and Reliability Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the site's maintenance organization. The role directs and coordinates activities of the maintenance department including planned and preventive maintenance, design, manufacture, and test components, products, and systems by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. The Maintenance & Reliability Manager is a key member of the Plaquemine site leadership team and supports and establishes a strong safety and productive culture. This position is located in Plaquemine, Louisiana Compensation: The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $118,400 - $160k. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location. What You'll Do: Serves as proactive member of Management Team by providing day-to-day oversight of maintenance department. Actively participates on the Site Leadership team to set direction and optimize overall site productivity. Inspires and motivates the organization through leadership and strong connection with the team fostering an empowered organization. Shows appreciation for employees and maintains a servant leadership mindset. Utilize process knowledge to drive performance with unit teams. Provide leadership for enforcement of plant rules, practices, and ways of working to optimize plant safety, quality, and efficiency. Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards. Ensure all assigned employees understand and comply with all plant safety rules, policies and standards operating procedures. Ensure employee adherence to Life Critical procedures. Interacts with other members of the leadership team, plant staff, and divisional cross-functional groups to optimize plant operations. Ensure the maintenance department adheres to the company's Core Principles and Quality GMP and Food Safety guidelines. Ensure maintenance department objectives are aligned with site and business direction. Improve maintenance efficiencies and develop and implement best practices. Ensure effective daily management of the maintenance department, which includes Union employees, and staff. Direct the Maintenance Team in the preparation of shutdown work schedules in order to maintain/exceed the level of performance needed to meet departmental goals. Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Human Resources for action; Provide technical expertise to analyze and resolve recurring issues that impact plant uptime. Maintain a strategic plan to protect assets and ensure the facility condition remains in compliance with corporate standards. Drive a maintenance transformation as you remove the wall between maintenance and operations moving to a proactive maintenance model decreasing equipment downtime. Implement Lean concepts, improve equipment reliability, operations productivity and optimize overall asset life cycle costs. Implement maintenance engineering and construction project proposals in order to achieve or exceed levels of production, upgrade maintenance troubleshooting, decrease production interruptions and improve maintenance productivity. Support improvements in SAP maintenance management system. Oversee all site utilities, maintenance contracts, facility and infrastructure engineering. Direct the Maintenance Team in the preparation of shutdown work schedules and assigning of projects in order to maintain/exceed the level of performance needed to meet departmental goals. Oversee all annual outage planning and scheduling. Knows the business model and strategy for facility. Explains to maintenance how the plant fits into the business and corporation. Effectively manage department budget and optimize maintenance spend. Support safety policies and procedures by ensuring that all maintenance work has been critically reviewed for safety & health considerations. Ensure that investigations are conducted into any safety or environmental observations/incidents and develop and implement programs to prevent re-occurrence. Support plant-wide Process Safety Management (PSM) and personnel safety and Quality efforts. Provide departmental leadership for safety, health and environmental programs and activities to provide for safe and productive working conditions in the facility. Participate in establishing training & drills to increase employee safety awareness. Assist as required with investigations conducted into any process deviations or non-conformances and assist with implementing programs to prevent re-occurrence. Stay abreast of customer concerns and customer satisfaction (internal and external). Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, safety and pharma/food safety standards and country regulations authorizations and permits. Ensure that personnel policies, procedures and guidelines are administered within the Maintenance Team in a consistent and equitable manner. Works closely with Human Resources as needed to hire team members with strong skill sets. Ensures maintenance team members are on-boarded and trained via a comprehensive plant training program to maximize their opportunity for success and increase plant expertise. Develops maintenance employees and ensures career success via goal setting, performance management, promotion processes, and employee development plan. Develop and direct employees in a proactive manner by fostering both individual employee contributions and development and cooperative teamwork, motivating toward total quality performance and exercising effective communication. Conduct Performance Appraisals timely and coach and counsel direct reports to achieve optimal development opportunities. Establish and communicate performance and behavioral standards and expectations. Maintain stores and spare equipment systems to support plant needs. Ensure MRO processes and material storage areas comply with company standards. Implement cost savings by periodic vendor price comparisons. Ensure that maintenance engineering work is cost effective and efficient through preparation of budgets, pricing/purchasing materials and scheduling of maintenance with the Production Team so as not to interfere with production. Improve equipment reliability through innovative modifications and preventive maintenance in order to enhance favorable performance against the department's budget. Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned. What You'll Need: Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical engineering or other engineering degree or equivalent in-plant experience; Experience: Minimum 5 - 7 years as a maintenance engineer in a manufacturing setting and 3 - 4 years in a maintenance management role, preferably in a pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environment; Transformational reliability program experience. Experience in heavy industrial or chemical technical applications. Experience in food/pharma manufacturing operations preferred. Basic knowledge of all crafts/trades. Strong project management and communication skills. Strong problem-solving ability. Strong organizational and leadership abilities. Ability to manage time, balance priorities, and manage conflict. Good analytical skills with demonstrated ability to consistently solve problems in a decisive and efficient manner. Work Environment This role spends approximately 30% of the time in an office environment and 70% of the time in the plant environment.
