The Maintenance Manager II is responsible for implementing and maintaining a successful maintenance program at facilities with multiple modalities or campus environments with multiple buildings. This includes maintenance, repair and improvement of facility's equipment, machinery, buildings, and safety systems. This shall include the responsibility of establishing and maintaining the department's CMMS (computerized maintenance management system). This position requires competency in problem solving, team building and decision making. Relocation Assistance Available! What You'll Do as a Maintenance Manager II Operational Excellence (40%) Responsible for 7/24/365 operations at multiple locations. Respond to emergency maintenance calls as needed and must be available for contact on troubleshooting or issues that cannot be resolved by Maintenance staff. Establishes and promotes the Preventive Maintenance Program for the facilities, and reviews effectiveness. Analyzes unplanned downtime, develops corrective actions and establishes a proactive plan using the department's CMMS to reduce or eliminate future occurrences and promote continuous improvement. Evaluates the effectiveness of, and makes necessary adjustments to, regularly scheduled preventative maintenance tasks. Plans and coordinates resources for any unplanned repairs of the equipment. Ensures all paperwork for planned and unplanned equipment maintenance is completed properly and entered into the department's CMMS and filed as per audit requirements. Strives for continuous improvement by analyzing new or alternative ways to improve operations; incorporates staff recommendations into analysis; responds to audit activities in a constructive manner and uses findings to improve operations using predictive and preventive maintenance practices. Recommends skills improvement training for self and department staff that will provide the skill set needed to improve equipment performance. Ensure equipment remains operational in accordance with validated parameters. Includes documentation of scheduled and unscheduled work orders to include proper change control documentation and review as required. Responsible for maintenance of equipment, building, grounds, utilities, janitorial services and associated contracts. Responsible for developing sustainable operations and practices to include alternative energy processes and recycling programs. People Leadership (25%) Maintains mechanical and technical skills knowledge and abilities by attending workshops, reviews trade publications and participates in training others to conduct minor, basic repairs to equipment, machinery, etc. Addresses any training deficiency as noted. Ensures that all federal, state and local regulations are adhered to and maintains the facility such that it may be inspected by any regulatory agency at any time. Develop and implement training programs to meet the needs of the Maintenance Technicians including but not limited to safety procedures, LOTO and electrical safety, equipment operation, applicable work instructions and procedures. Must be proficient in the requirements of the Senior Maintenance Technician, Project Technician and Maintenance Technician positions and shall be required to provide training to the technicians in these roles. Determine the appropriate schedule for maintenance staff according to plant demands. Maintain this schedule to ensure appropriate 7/24/365 operation and emergency response coverage. Potentially acting as the emergency response coordinator. Selects, conduct interviews, orients, trains and evaluates new maintenance staff. Writes and conducts performance evaluations of existing staff and communicates opportunities for growth monthly, quarterly and annually. Build performance by implementing growth tasks for individual staff members and monitors progress. Protects company confidential information by properly storing, retrieving and disseminating such information only to those authorized. Ensures compliance with local and federal regulations (OSHA, FDA, ISO, EPA, NRC, NEC). Establish and manage relationship with local emergency services (fire, local law enforcement, building security, corporate security). Must be able to achieve Radiation Safety Officer status (specific to gamma and E-beam facilities). Contributes in a team effort by performing in accordance to all STERIS policies, GMP, Lean principles and other directives; supports the directives and decisions of higher level management and performs other duties as assigned. A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience. Ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in English. Ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision. Requires computer literacy to include word processing, spreadsheet and software capabilities. Responsibilities: * Strategic Leadership & Framework Development * Design and implement a robust maintenance and reliability framework aligned with organizational goals. * Establish standardized processes, systems, and governance for preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM). * Develop and maintain KPIs and metrics to measure performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. * One Gopher Culture & Capability Building * Champion a reliability-focused culture across all levels of the organization. * Serve as a One Gopher voice by promoting collaboration and resource sharing across all sites. * Ensure talent mobility and leverage individual strengths to build a unified, high-performing team. * Drive cross-site alignment on key processes such as shutdown planning and execution, maintenance practices, reliability strategies, and critical spare inventory management. * Lead training and development initiatives to enhance technical skills and promote ownership of reliability principles. * Drive engagement and accountability within maintenance teams and cross-functional stakeholders. * Systems & Process Optimization * Oversee implementation and optimization of CMMS/EAM systems for work management, asset tracking, and data analytics. * Integrate advanced technologies (condition monitoring, predictive analytics) to enable data-driven decision-making. * Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards. * Strategic Improvement Planning * Develop and execute long-term strategic improvement plans for both maintenance and reliability functions. * Identify needed capital investments to asset life extension and mitigate operational risk. * Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve equipment uptime, reduce unplanned downtime, and optimize total cost of ownership. * Engineering Steering & Executive Reporting * Drive an engineering steering process in collaboration with operational stakeholders to prioritize and execute reliability initiatives. * Present progress, key metrics, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership on a regular basis. * Ensure alignment between engineering, operations, and business objectives. * Leadership & Financial Stewardship * Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and capital planning for maintenance and reliability projects. * Build and mentor a high-performing team of maintenance and reliability professionals. * Collaborate with operations, engineering, and supply chain to align priorities and deliver business objectives. Requirements: * Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline from accredited College or University OR a High School Diploma/GED plus at least 15 years of previous work experience within industrial maintenance leadership roles. * 5+ years of experience in reliability or maintenance leadership roles within heavy industrial environments. * Technical proficiency with and experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word). * Expertise with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and predictive technologies and programs. * Leadership skills to champion positive change, manage conflict to resolution, and maintain high morale. * Excellent organizational skills, balancing multiple projects with attention to detail. * Demonstrated ability to identify strategic improvement opportunities and act decisively to realize those opportunities. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build key relationships with cross-functional, internal, and external stakeholders. * Ability to set priorities and deliver results in situations with shifting priorities. * Knowledge of process safety management and environmental regulations. * Willingness and ability to travel domestically Preferred Qualifications: * Previous experience with multi-site reliability program development and execution preferred, but not required. * Previous experience upgrading or changing CMMS system preferred, but not required. Compensation Information: Salary Range: $145,907 - $240,599. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive plan which is determined by the achievement of strategic objectives. The market rate for the role is typically at the midpoint of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as candidate qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role. Relocation Assistance Available! What You'll Do as a Maintenance Manager II Operational Excellence (40%) * Responsible for 7/24/365 operations at multiple locations.
