Maintenance Supervisor - 2nd Shift
Maintenance manager job in South Holland, IL
Maintenance Supervisor - Hands-On Technical Leader
If you're the type of person who'd rather be on the floor solving problems than sitting behind a desk all day, this might be a great fit for you. We're looking for a Maintenance Supervisor who can lead a team and roll up their sleeves when the situation calls for it. This role is heavily technical, and we're looking for someone who's comfortable troubleshooting everything from PLCs to pumps to 3-phase power.
What You'll Do
You'll guide and support a maintenance team responsible for keeping a fast-moving manufacturing operation running safely and reliably. Every day will look a little different-you might be digging into a PLC issue in the morning, rebuilding a hydraulic unit later that afternoon, or walking a line with production leadership to line up priorities.
This role is a mix of leadership, hands-on problem solving, and making sure we're following GMPs and safety rules at all times.
What You Need to Bring
We're looking for someone who's confident across multiple trades and can coach a team through complex problems. A few of the technical areas you should be comfortable with:
Electrical: 3-phase power, electrical code, print reading, drives
Electronics: digital/analog understanding, component-level board repair
PLC work: Siemens and Allen-Bradley, reading ladder logic, basic programming, platform familiarity
Instrumentation: calibration of sensitive equipment
Hydraulics & Pneumatics: print reading, equipment rebuilds
Mechanical systems: conveyors, pumps, chain/belt drives
Welding & Cutting: MIG/TIG/stick, torch, plasma, grinders
Brazing & Plumbing (general layout, sweating pipe, print reading)
HVAC: ammonia and freon systems, chillers, rooftop units
Boilers, combustion systems, compressors, fire/sprinkler systems
General building maintenance: lighting, roofing, layouts
You don't need to be a master of everything, but you should feel comfortable navigating most of these areas and coaching others through them.
Other basics:
Able to work legally in the U.S.
High school diploma required; bachelor's preferred
About four years in mechanical or electrical trades (tech training programs can count toward this)
Solid Microsoft Office skills
Experience supervising or leading a team in a production environment
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and GMPs
What We Offer
We try to keep this simple, good work should come with good rewards:
Competitive pay and a solid benefits package
Medical (BCBS), dental, and vision
PTO + vacation
401(k)
Ongoing training and development
Tuition/education reimbursement
Clear paths for growth (we promote from within whenever possible)
