Mechanical Maintenance

Maintenance Tech, Advanced Mechanical, Advanced Hydraulics positions available

Primary function

Maintain and repair mechanical and hydraulic equipment in assigned areas throughout facility

Reports to:
Maintenance Supervisor but works independently with minimal supervision

Basic Responsibilities

Perform miscellaneous repair work, including but not limited to installing pumps, boiler repairs, pipe fitting, etc.
Inspects, repairs and maintains facility equipment, including but not limited to rolling mill equipment, furnace mechanical equipment, mechanical shears, annealing equipment
Assemble, dismantle and adjust mechanical and hydraulic equipment, including but not limited to conveyors, mill stands, mill housings, etc.
Perform welding, cutting and burning when needed
Interprets blueprints and technical sketches
Operate overhead crane and/or fork truck to move supplies and equipment
Maintains a safe and clean working area
Other duties assigned

Tools and Equipment

Drill press, power saw, portable drill and grinders, bench tools, cutting torch, welding and burning equipment, overhead pendant crane, chain clocks and falls, air hoists, pipe wrenches, crow bars, sledges, eye bolts, hammers, pressure and flow gauges, cold chisels, punches, gauges, grab hooks, hydraulic fitting die press, and miscellaneous hand tools.

Experience/Education

High school education or GED equivalent

Training:

Ability to be trained in all areas of mechanical testing and repairs
Ability to successfully pass the Ramsey Mechanical Aptitude test RR110 and Ramsey Mech Test RR16-A (or equivalent)
Successfully pass the applicable Rosedale Technical College Test Stand.
Incumbent must be able to walk management through schematics

A Millwright performs a variety of activities required to move, install machinery and associated equipment in and around the facility utilizing proper lagging, leveling and rigging. Millwrights fabricate and erect structures of varying types, sizes and shapes. They may also maintain mechanical portions of machines including, but not limited to, motors, pumps, spindles, belts, bearings, gear boxes, sheaves, ball screws, turrets and drive shafts.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop proper rigging techniques for moving/repositioning machines and equipment

· Move machine tools and plant equipment

· Fabricate and erect steel and other structures

· Install and repair overhead cranes, conveyors, and elevating devices

· Maintain mechanical portions of motion control devices including but not limited to spindles, belts, bearings, gear boxes, sheaves, ball screws, turrets and drive shafts

· Perform precision installation and alignment of mechanical components (e.g. pumps, bearings, gears, bushings, shafts, couplers, etc.)

· Perform repairs to machine guards and guarding systems

· Perform basic equipment servicing (cleaning, lubrication, coolant, filters, etc.)

· Clean facility and production equipment (internal/exterior surfaces, contaminants - residues/oil/dirt/chips, etc.)

· Perform all work activity in a safe manner while maintaining compliance to Honeywell's Health Safety and Environment Management System (HSEMS).

· Perform work with high quality. Utilize best practices and the appropriate tools, materials and parts for the task at hand.

· Perform work in an efficient manner. Escalate quickly when issues arise that prevent timely completion of work assignments. Actively seek new assignments when work is completed faster than expected.

· Implement processes to sustain a clean and orderly workplace. Ensure equipment and work areas are cleaned and all tools are properly stored at the completion of each assignment.

· Actively participate in defining, documenting and continuously improving maintenance procedures in the pursuit of the safest, most productive, work methods.

· Effectively communicate with coworkers and provide assistance to others when appropriate to ensure success of the team.

· Ability to lift 35 pounds

Hourly rate is $31.96

YOU MUST HAVE

· Journeyman card or 5 years of equivalent experience performing millwright activities/machine maintenance

· High School graduate or GED

· Due to Federal regulations, candidate must be either a US Citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident
