Julian Estates, the premier independent living community for active seniors in Puyallup, is seeking a Maintenance Person! This position is full time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends as needed.

About the Position:

Our Maintenance Person assures maintenance of the community, including the building’s exterior and interior, grounds, walkways, driveways, and parking lot. The Maintenance Person performs preventative maintenance duties on an ongoing and as needed basis. This essential member of our team completes emergency preparation and response duties as well as, hazard communication duties. The successful candidate for this position have at least one year of prior maintenance experience in areas such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, painting, and wall repairs. Our ideal candidate must have a passion for seniors.

AM / PM Shifts Available

TASKS AND JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:

1. Responding to, in a courteous manner, any and all guest questions, complaints, and requests.

2. Perform general maintenance, including routine repairs, replacing bathroom tiles and light bulbs, painting, repairing walls, minor carpentry, etc.

3. Regularly check air (HVAC), heating, ventilation, appliances, plumbing, etc. and notify Chief Engineer when repairs are needed.

4. Assist with landscaping.

5. Drive the shuttle as needed.

6. Utilize basic hand and power tools required for general maintenance.

7. Complete checklists and other maintenance records in accordance with company policy and government regulations.

8. Maintain tools, workspaces, and equipment.

9. Complies with all Best Western and LaCava Companies procedures, rules, and regulations.

10. Perform other services, duties, and special projects as requested by the General Manager.

PREREQUISITES:

Competencies and Other Requirements: Ability to communicate, listen, take orders, and multi-task. Must be able to work independently with minimum amount of direct supervision. Ability to drive a shuttle van, including having a valid driver's license. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include long hours, call-ins in the event of an emergency or snowstorm, etc. Night and weekend availability is required and mandatory.

· Education: High School or Vocation School. Ability to read, speak, write, and understand the primary language of the workplace.

· Experience: Previous hotel, trade show, commercial building or building maintenance experience. General knowledge of light maintenance is required.

· Physical: Requires lifting up to 60 pounds on a regular and continuing basis, manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, climbing ladders, walking, repetitive motions, visual acuity, listening ability, and good speaking skills.

Currently seeking a Facility Maintenance Person 4:30 am- 11am

*Full time position with set schedule. Must be able to work 4:30 am -11:00 am Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Off days will be Wednesday and Saturday.

*The Facility Maintenance Person is responsible for completing daily cleaning and maintenance checklist. Examples of task are detailed cleaning, changing light bulbs, changing air filters, and keeping parking area and landscaping clean and free of litter.

*The Facility Maintenance Person is also responsible for checking in and putting away two truck deliveries per week with 250+ pieces per truck. Must have the physical ability to repetitively lift and move cases weighing up to 50 lbs.

*The Facilities Maintenance Person is also responsible for draining, cleaning, and replacing cooking shortening in 6 commercial fryers twice per week.
