Summary: The Maintenance Technician can perform a wide variety of work to ensure that the facilities and equipment are maintained in a safe and effective working condition. Works with Supervisor to mentor/develop team and Tech's in training.
Work with Vendors aligned to facilities.
Ability to multi-task.
Ability to change load wheels on power equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair low and high voltage controls including fuses, relays, wiring.
Maintains building, equipment, shop and storage areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Completes work orders for work performed and includes parts and inventory used.
Document all work order activities to comply with MP2 requirements, providing documented records of the activities performed.
Follow lockout-tag out procedures, confined space procedures, and other safety and environmental procedures and policies as required.
Experience working in maintenance in a distribution center setting.
Building conveyor maintenance experience required.

Under limited supervision, the AEP Headquarters Building Maintenance Technician -A will perform skilled work involving the operation, maintenance, repair, alteration and additions to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems, building furnishings and site improvements at AEP's 31-story corporate headquarters in downtown Columbus, Ohio.
Job Description
What You'll Do:
Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on, troubleshoot, repair, install and operate various types of HVAC-related equipment, emergency generators, and general building mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in accordance with industry standards and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building codes.
Perform general building maintenance and repair related to drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, windows and other related items.
Monitor the work of, communicate effectively with, and/or assist others, including contractors, engaged in maintenance, construction and operation activities. Ensure work is completed in compliance with contract terms and conditions and in accordance with company safety, security, environmental and conduct rules.
Perform general housekeeping duties as required, such as, assemble, move, repair, hang and adjust furniture, wall hangings, doors, windows and other office items, assist in snow removal, storm damage cleanup, lawn maintenance, spill cleanup, inventory management.
Procure necessary quality parts and material in the most economical and accepted manner.
Maintain records, including inspection documentation, and submit reports as required.
What We're Looking For:
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Building Maintenance Technician B or at least three (3) years equivalent experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.
Licenses/Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Successful completion of the Hire Vue assessment is required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Selected candidate must be willing to work nights and weekends.
The ideal candidate will work the evening-shift (7pm-7am hours).

Electrician or HVAC license or CFC refrigerant certification preferred. Must be willing to pursue the certification.

Possess excellent verbal, written, organizational, problem solving and communication skills.
Ability to read, interpret, review, revise, and correct blueprints, drawings, schematics, specifications and instructions related to the assigned work.

How you'll contribute
The Maintenance Worker assists in assigned activities of plant operation functions which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utility systems and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition. Assists in maintaining performance improvement activities within the facility and participates in CQI activities. Performs general maintenance and repair duties to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Physical Plant. Receives daily direction from the Director of Plant Operations via verbal or written communications. May share on call with Director of Plant Operations.
Qualifications and requirements:
High School diploma or the equivalent.
At least 2 years' experience with maintenance preferably in a hospital setting.
Familiarity with Joint Commission and other regulatory policy and procedures highly preferred.

Repair relief valves, control valves, on/off valves and pneumatic actuators in FCX actuation facility or customer plant locations.
Mechanically and electrically troubleshoot, inspect, and test valves at specified job worksites. Primary worksites include FCX valve repair centers with occasional customer in-field work sites.
Perform pre-testing, disassembly, cleaning, in process inspection, machining, lapping, painting, assembly, testing, and final inspection on various types of valves and actuation.

* Perform maintenance and repair of structures, electrical systems, heating, plumbing, ventilating, air conditioning and drainage systems. Recommend contracted assistance when on-center repair is not possible.
* Repair or replace faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets and fuses as directed.
* Perform minor construction and repair of structural woodwork.
* Install window shades, coverages, security locks, etc.
* Perform repair or replacement of plumbing fixtures, washers, seals, etc.
* Help prepare surfaces for finishing, including painting, as directed.
* Direct inmates assigned to facility maintenance.
Qualifications:
* Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED).
* Technical training and general knowledge of repair and maintenance plus three (3) years related experience preferred.
* Valid driver's license in state of Ohio with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
* Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
