What you'll do:
Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) specializing in diagnosing equipment malfunctions and formulating repair methodologies during root cause analysis procedures.
Develop maintenance operating discipline. Formulate and standardize a set of operational protocols that govern maintenance procedures and practices.
Provide technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions.
Maintains and assists in development of PPM plans/modules to increase the safety and reliability of the sites, consulted on documentation of PPM changes.
Ensure that work requests include engineering input on repair details and if necessary, provides onsite/offsite technical support for deviations from this data, for equipment that is critical for the process.
Ensure repairs, repair techniques and equipment specific training are documented and made available.
Provide maintainability input to SOPs and Project Front End Loading. Performs technical reviews of procedures. Serves as a technical resource during procedure creation and review in support of the Planner. Creates and reviews job procedures and checklists.
Collaborate with the maintenance department in scrutinizing spare parts lists and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for existing equipment. Participate in developing the maintenance budget to support the maintenance strategy.
Provide engineering input for work packages to ensure standards are followed, as required.

What you'll need to succeed:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution or similar education. Associate's degree in one of the above fields with five plus (5+) years' experience.
High/low pressure hydraulic systems is preferred and experience with extrusion presses is preferred.
Three plus (3+) years' experience in an industrial environment.

The City of Falls Church is an independent city six miles from the nation's capital. It is small in area (2.2 square miles) and population (about 16,000). The City is known for its urban village community, quality customer service, nationally ranked school system, environmental activism, and endless community activities.
Responsibilities
Participate in regular cleaning and repair of drainage facilities, catch basins, gutter pan and sidewalks;
May assist in Asphalt Crew work in the right-of-way and city-owned properties, including patching, resurfacing and pot hole repair;
May assist Concrete Crew in masonry and concrete work; pour and finish concrete for sidewalks, curb and gutter; and storm sewer repairs;
Participate in snow removal and leaf collection;
Respond to inquiries and complaints from citizens/customers;
Operate trucks, tractors, back-hoe, and other equipment in connection with assigned tasks;
Frequent heavy lifting (ability to lift up to 50 pounds);
Emergency over time work as required;
Performs other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
Valid driver's license and a good driving record
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred, or ability to obtain CDL within first 6 months of employment, and good driving record;
Experience in outdoor manual labor;
Able to perform manual labor outdoors for extended periods in adverse weather conditions;
Able to follow oral instructions and work well with others;
Finalists will be administered a complete physical examination, including a drug screen as well as a criminal history background check;
Special Requirement
This position is considered emergency service personnel; the individual selected is required, as a condition of employment, to be available to respond to emergencies.
Hours
7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, plus overtime emergency hours as required.
