Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive and reactive maintenance to support plant manufacturing operations. Key priorities include executing PM schedules, repairing equipment to maintain maximum production rates, and managing spare parts inventory. This role requires flexibility to work 40+ hours per week, weekends as needed, and fulfill on-call duties for repairs and assistance.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair machines and controls (extruders, corrugators, extrusion die, DC/AC motors & drives, downstream equipment, chillers, etc.).
Complete PM and repair work orders in CMMS system promptly and accurately.
Order replacement parts and control components as needed.
Serve as first responder for machine troubleshooting; escalate to Electrical Engineering when necessary.
Support daily management initiatives and continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency and safety.
Collaborate with production staff to ensure safe and reliable equipment operation.
Maintain and build job skills through company training programs.
Must-Haves
5-15 years of industrial maintenance experience (minimum 5 years required).
Strong electrical skills and experience with industrial systems.
Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings.
Knowledge of NEC, UL508A, NFPA 79 codes.
Proficiency in Lockout/Tagout safety procedures, Arc Flash, and PPE requirements.
Skilled in troubleshooting PLC I/O, networking, AC/DC drives, and servo systems.
Strong mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
Plusses
Experience with plastics manufacturing.
Knowledge of injection molding and extrusion processes.

JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Associate repairs and maintains the facility, equipment, performs both reactive and preventative maintenance, and performs minor improvements to equipment and the facility. This position supports all production and supports staff and management in maintenance duties as requested.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot all production and facility equipment and systems.
Systems include electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems.
Monitors to ensure all utilities and production equipment are running properly and efficiently through assigning, tracking, and performing preventative maintenance.
Perform welding and machining tasks.
Perform PLC troubleshooting.
Assist engineering with projects.
Responds promptly to calls for production and utility equipment malfunctions and ground maintenance.

Operates various types of power lift equipment and performs overhead work.

SUPERVISORY SKILLS
This is a non-exempt position with no direct or indirect reports.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; Must be able to read and understand verbal and written instructions and other directives or documents as job duties require (testing or other aptitude verification may be required).
Associates degree, Journeyman, or related coursework and/or experience preferred.
One (1) to Three (3) years of relevant maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The Maintenance Associate job requires many physical demands such as: walking, sitting, climbing, lifting, twisting, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50lbs. There is the possibility of maneuvering doors and heavy equipment with limited movement in some work areas. Ability to stand 8 - 12 hours.
The Maintenance Associate's work environment includes normal factory conditions with climate control. This Associate is required to work in the production areas of the plant. There is minimal noise and vibration levels. There is the possibility of exposure to different types of chemicals (refer to SDS in the area), moving objects, moving mechanical parts, sharp tools, and minimal lifting.
AUTHORITY LEVEL
Ability to halt or suspend operations based upon safety or quality concerns.
Provide leadership without supervisory authority.
Escalate production associate issues to Coordinator as appropriate.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Mechanical and electrical aptitude to include a basic understanding of electrical schematic drawings.

Must be able to work full-time and overtime as required.

How you'll contribute

Oversees/trains/inspects Maintenance Technicians electrical repairs and motor replacement, lighting ballast and bulbs, electric switches, fuses, circuit breakers, receptacles, minor electric wiring installation and repairs. Performs routine building inspections, creates quotes for (in house) Union labor projects, and demonstrates excellent customer relations skills.
Identifies, communicates, coordinates, and completes projects and work performed in the assigned area(s). Oversees/trains/inspects building plumbing system, fix water leaks, unclog drains and replace seals and valves. Repairs and replaces sink and floors drains, faucets, and other fixtures.
Responds to emergency situations and evaluates and corrects defects. Oversees/trains/inspects preventive and repair maintenance duties of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems (proficient in automation controls). May assist with installing new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines. (e.g., cleaning or changing filters, lubricating motors, tightening belts, etc.)
Maintenance Support
Clears walks, stairs, parking lots and roadways of ice and snow. Shovels and applies calcium and salt to areas. Utilizes shovels, snow blowers, tractors, salt spreaders, and trucks for snow removal. Applies salt, calcium, and sand to various areas to melt ice and provide safer conditions. Provides general support in other areas and assists with set-ups during special events.
Leads by example, exhibits professionalism, communicates expectations, and develops working relationship with entire maintenance team with no bias, prejudice, or favoritism. Assists other trades as needed, adheres to all safety practices and procedures, and cleans and maintains work areas and equipment.
