Position Summary
The Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical power distribution, control, and protection systems across Samsung Austin Foundry site(s). This role supports daily operations and long-term reliability of the plant's infrastructure systems, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on technical skills, a solid understanding of industrial electrical systems, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Role and Responsibilities
* Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems including switchgear, MCCs, transformers, panelboards, and lighting systems.
* Troubleshoot and repair faults in motors, drives, and control circuits to maintain uptime and reliability.
* Support commissioning, start-up, and system energization activities for new equipment and upgrades.
* Perform functional testing on protection devices and perform electrical diagnostic testing (insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, relay tests, thermography, etc.).
* Maintain and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) - Yaskawa, Mitsubishi, ABB, or equivalent - ensuring performance and parameter integrity.
* Assist with Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, including battery inspection, load transfer testing, and alarm diagnostics.
* Support networked electrical systems and SCADA interfaces (Ethernet/IP, fiber, industrial networking).
* Document all maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ensure accurate work order closure.
* Collaborate with operations, engineering, and contractor teams to resolve issues and improve system performance.
* Follow all site safety procedures and apply NFPA 70E and 70B principles to all work activities.
* Participate in continuous improvement, reliability initiatives, and root-cause analysis investigations.
Skills and Qualifications
* Education: High School Diploma
* Experience: Minimum 5 years of industrial or manufacturing electrical maintenance experience required.
* Preferred Qualifications:
* Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent certification in Electrical, Industrial Maintenance, or related field highly preferred.
* VFD experience (Yaskawa, Mitsubishi, or equivalent).
* UPS system experience (Eaton, Liebert, or equivalent).

The current base salary range for this role is between $21.00 - $60.40.
