Maintenance technician job in East Grand Forks, MN
We are looking for a motivated individual with leadership skills to join our East Grand Forks, MN factory as the Maintenance Supervisor. The purpose of this position is to direct the day-to-day inspection, maintenance and repair activities of assigned maintenance employees as applied to factory machinery and equipment and to installation and maintenance of capital projects.
The principal accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Lead and promote a positive work culture through Company Values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, Teamwork, and Accountability.
Develops, implements, and evaluates maintenance policies and procedures making recommendations when necessary, ensuring “best practices.”
Directs staff in the safe and timely maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment to minimize down time and contribute to maximization of productivity. Effectively communicates maintenance and repair requirements to factory management and coordinates activities.
Promotes a positive work culture amongst the Maintenance and Factory teams.
Ensures all assigned projects are completed on time and within budgetary guidelines by effective planning, high productivity, and accurate tracking of projects. Achieves highest level of scheduled compliance.
Participates in budget preparation and administration, coordinates purchasing and documentation and monitors maintenance expenditures.
Executes weekly planned job packages by assigning staff to appropriate projects and follows ups as needed. Provides feedback to the Maintenance Planner regarding the quality and content of planned job packages.
Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures. Investigates accidents or injuries and prepares reports of findings.
Successful candidates will have a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering field preferred OR a minimum of three years of maintenance leadership experience. Direct training and experience in maintenance engineering practices is required. The incumbent must possess well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and be self-motivated and dedicated to effecting positive change in a traditional maintenance minded workforce, moving from a reactive to proactive maintenance philosophy. An overall understanding of the sugar beet processing operation is also required. Administrative skills and the ability to supervise and motivate people are essential.

May be local lead in new construction or modification projects. Responsible for meeting the business, financial, customer, service quality and regulatory requirements of the area. Meets and consults with system leader for policies, procedures, equipment and supplies to promote standardization across the system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Plans and administers directly, and through subordinate supervisory personnel, the effective management and delivery of facility maintenance services in accordance with all hospital, system and regulatory agency standards.
* Ensures quality, financial and customer service objectives are met.
* Ensures the attainment of objectives through the selection, development, training and evaluation of staff. Makes hiring and termination decisions in consultation with human resources.
* Develops, secures approval of, and administers capital and operating budgets in order to meet agreed-upon departmental goals and objectives.
* Develops and implements appropriate methods to monitor adherence to budgets and resolve variances.
* Serves as technical resource to subordinates in resolving complex problems and in investigating and recommending corrective actions in response to incident reports and/or customer complaints.
* Reviews and approves recommendations for department equipment modifications, new supplies and minor equipment purchases. Recommends and secures approval of major capital expense items initiating bidding process with vendors and upon approval, awarding bids.
* Fosters smoothly running services through timely and effective resolution of disruptions.
Ensures that all facility maintenance activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, federal, and governmental regulations and laws.
* Improves function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by studying performance results; identifies, recommends and implements changes, expansions and additions.
* Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; comply with legal codes and regulations. Stays current on knowledge of technology and state and federal regulations.
* Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications:
Required:
* High school diploma or GED.
* Two years of college level course work in business, management, engineering, or a related field.
* Four years of increasingly responsible facility maintenance experience including some lead supervisory experience.
* Valid state driver's license.
* Driving record must be within the approved insurance company's regulations.
Preferred:
* Associates degree in engineering
* High Pressure Boiler Operators License.
