Refrigeration Maintenance Technician FULL-TIME
$25.70/hr
This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the refrigeration systems while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This facility is a highly automated meat processing/packaging facility located in Kansas City, KS.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
With little to no supervision provide maintenance support to ensure the safe and effective operation of ammonia refrigeration systems, HCFC systems, hot water, compressed air, and steam systems.
Must be able to safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned production equipment and the ability to effectively interact with all plant personnel to accomplish plant and individual goals.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performing and consulting on robust preventative maintenance and refrigeration repairs
Expertly performing emergency mechanical or electrical repairs, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, pump, pressure, and hydraulic plant equipment.
Understanding boiler theory, RETA Operator I, and IIAR Basic NH3 Refrigeration schematics will be required for this role.
Must be able to pass a HAZ-Mat physical and pass the training to be certified as an Emergency Responder Technician Level and participate on the Emergency Response Team.
Must assist and support training and development of more junior Refrigeration Technicians.
Also responsible for minimizing downtime due to equipment and system failure.
Requirements:
Education: 1 year of industrial maintenance experience education preferred (I.E. possess industrial maintenance diploma or currently enrolled in technical school) in lieu of experience
Experience: Minimum of 6 months of industrial mechanic experience. Must have PSM Experience.
Special Skills:
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally
Ability to stand on hard surface for up to 12 hours per day
Ability to work in confined and tall spaces, walk, climb, utilize a ladder, operate a lift, bend and stoop
Repetitive gripping, pushing and pulling
Frequent overhead work
Temperatures inside plant may vary from -25 degrees to over 100 degrees; outside work may be also be needed
Basic math skills; percentages, fractions and measurements
Knowledge of Industrial Maintenance including Pneumatics, PLC's, Motor controls, and shop equipment operation desired
If hired, applicants will need to become certified as RETA Operator 1.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills will be necessary to log information, to process daily work orders and to complete required documentation. Ability to learn and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively and basic math skills are necessary to perform this job at a satisfactorily level
