SUMMARY
At DSV Road Transport, the field maintenance support technician provides on-site, mobile maintenance and technical support across assigned regions to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient fleet operations. This role combines in-depth Class 8 diesel and trailer repair knowledge with exceptional communication and customer service skills. The Technician serves as a liaison between drivers, vendors, and internal departments while performing light repairs, coordinating service needs, and ensuring all maintenance activities meet DSV standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform light repair and maintenance work on Class 8 tractors and trailers, including but not limited to: lights, mudflaps, hoses, minor mechanical adjustments, and DOT inspections.
Respond to field service needs and driver breakdowns within assigned region, ensuring timely and safe resolution.
Conduct equipment condition assessments and determine appropriate repair paths (mobile repair vs. shop/vendor).
Initiate service and repair work by diagnosing issues, developing repair estimates, verifying warranty/service coverage, and writing repair orders (ROs).
Maintain company-provided tools, truck, and equipment in clean, safe operating condition.
Serve as a mobile communicator and liaison between drivers, maintenance vendors, dispatch, and internal departments.
Ensure driver concerns, equipment issues, and safety needs are accurately captured and communicated to vendors and internal stakeholders.
Follow up with repair shops and vendors to verify recommended services are completed correctly and documented.
Maintain strong, professional relationships with external repair partners to ensure timely and cost-effective service delivery.
Record accurate, detailed, and complete repair orders and service documentation.
Enter ROs and maintenance data into required systems (e.g., service databases, internal tracking tools).
Assist with manufacturer warranty processing when applicable.
Support parts procurement as needed, including sourcing, ordering, and tracking materials.
Prepare, coordinate, and maintain licensing, permitting, and compliance documentation for assigned equipment.
Ensure timely submission of invoices and repair documentation to Accounts Payable.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned to support fleet safety, uptime, and operational needs.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or GED
Class 8 truck and trailer mechanical experience or working knowledge required.
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) required.
Must have and maintain a valid in-state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to troubleshoot issues and perform light repairs safely and effectively.
2+ years of diesel, tractor/trailer, or fleet maintenance experience.
Ability to learn and utilize maintenance management and service database systems.
Basic understanding of DOT regulations and FMCSA compliance standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS his position involves regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, and climbing throughout the workday in shop, yard, and office environments. WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment for this position includes a combination of maintenance shop, terminal yard, vendor locations, roadway travel, and office settings. The role is performed in an active fleet and transportation environment with exposure to moving vehicles, machinery, tools, and typical shop conditions including noise, vibration, dust, vehicle exhaust, and fumes. Work may occur indoors and outdoors and may involve varying weather conditions and temperature extremes. The employee is expected to follow all safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment, including safety footwear, high-visibility apparel, and eye or hearing protection as applicable.
For this position, the expected base pay is: $20.50 - $27.50 / Hourly. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, geographic location and other objective business considerations.

Responsibilities
Position Summary
IES Residential is seeking skilled and experienced Residential Service Electricians to join our growing Service Organization in the Laredo, TX area. This role requires technical expertise in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential environments - including both new builds and lived-in homes. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of NEC codes, prioritizes safety, and excels in customer service. As the face of our service division, this technician will represent IES Residential with professionalism and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to scheduled and emergency service calls in residential homes (occupied and unoccupied).
Diagnose and repair electrical issues related to panels, circuits, breakers, lighting, outlets, GFCIs, switches, and more.
Conduct home warranty repairs and ensure homeowner satisfaction through quality service and clear communication.
Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor while working in lived-in homes.
Accurately complete service tickets and document repairs performed, parts used, and next steps if required.
Ensure work is completed in accordance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety standards.
Maintain cleanliness and functionality of company vehicles, tools, and PPE.
Communicate effectively with service coordinators, homeowners, and field leadership.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance or customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Residential Service Electrician.
Demonstrated skill in electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics in residential settings.
Strong knowledge of NEC codes and compliance requirements.
Recognized for high-quality workmanship, professionalism, and safety.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
Must pass a background check and drug screening.
Willingness to work independently and travel to various residential job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
Journeyman Electrician License (as required by state or local jurisdiction).
Experience using field service management apps or reporting software.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Work is performed in both new builds and occupied homes; must maintain a professional and respectful demeanor in customer-facing environments.
Must be comfortable working in attics, crawl spaces, and tight areas within existing structures.
Requires frequent driving between job sites and homeowner residences.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work with hand and power tools.
Ability to stand, walk, crouch, and climb ladders as part of routine troubleshooting and repairs.
May be exposed to various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and outdoor weather during inspections or exterior work.
Requires use of company vehicle and strict adherence to driving and safety policies.
