The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance and service for each piece of equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic performs emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electrical and hydraulic and identifies and replaces worn or damaged parts in a timely manner.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, and heat and cold.
The noise level in the warehouse environment is usually moderate and quiet in the office.
Near moving mechanical parts and/or machinery and occasionally exposed to burn hazards.
Exposed to protected and unprotected heights, which requires the use of a personal fall protection system (harness/lifeline).

Key Accountabilities:
⦁ Maintain a work schedule that includes time for personal contact and communication with all shifts.
⦁ Electrical schematics and troubleshoot wiring circuits.
⦁ Capable of troubleshooting hard-wired relay logic machine control panels. This includes field repairs, i.e., replacing existing components and wiring.
⦁ Working knowledge and experience with 24, 115, 277 and 480 Bolt 3 phase electrical systems. This would include electrical distribution systems consisting of buss and switchgear equipment
⦁ Proficient in the use of PLC (programmable logic controllers). This includes troubleshooting, programming and documentation of PLC control programs. Proficiency required with Modican, Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLC's.
⦁ Ability to install addition conduit, both flex and hard, to existing equipment and building systems. This would include the correct bending of hard conduit and pulling of wire through the conduit.
⦁ Ability to remove, repair and install pneumatic and hydraulic components to include valves, cylinders, pumps, hoists, and motors.
⦁ Knowledge and experience in the use of wire and stick welders, as well as cutting torches.
⦁ Must be able to operate forklifts-up to 30-ton capacity.
⦁ Rig, move and install equipment within the facility. This would include the capability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 75 lbs. Determine proper pipe sizes, thread pipe and properly install.
⦁ Ability to troubleshoot machine malfunctions to include electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Educational Requirements:
* 2 year degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering or Engineering Technology
* 5+ years of plant maintenance experience.
* CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
* Must be willing to work overtime as required on short notice during the week and weekends as scheduled.

Diagnose cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance by starting devices to test their performance, observing mechanical devices in operation and listening to their sounds to locate causes of trouble, dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments, repairing and replacing defective parts and may install special functional and structural parts.
Lubricate and clean parts and equipment and repairs and maintains equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturers' specifications using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments.
Examine form and texture to parts to detect imperfections, inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
Apply basic electrical knowledge to test electrical equipment to determine causes for malfunction such as motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, solenoids, and other electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principals.
Complete training on new and existing equipment and uses applicable reference material and at the direction of the supervisor may be required to use specialized reference material.
Schedule: Typical schedule will be Friday to Sunday 5AM-5PM for Weekend Day Shift. Weekend Night Shift is Friday to Sunday 5PM-5AM. 2nd shift is Monday to Thursday 3:30PM-2:00AM. Eligible for Weekend shift premium of $3/hour for day shift and $4.50/hour for weekend night shift and for 2nd shift shift premium of $1/hour. Training may occur on 1st shift during the weekdays.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
