Your primary responsibilities will be to maintain our Metate Ranch tour and event spaces using hand and small power tools. You will also assist with set-up and clean up for weddings and corporate events at our outdoor event venues.
General Landscape and Maintenance Responsibilities:
Maintain our outdoor facilities in a tour and event ready condition at all times
Daily general repair, maintenance, and clean-up of all ranch areas, equipment, and facilities using hand and small power tools (drills, saws, sanders, etc.). May include painting, sanding, digging, small construction projects (such as building picnic tables and benches or small temporary structures), repairing kishes and the long house, leveling and repairing walkways and foot paths, etc.
Complete maintenance and repair work in a timely fashion
Adhere to preventative maintenance schedules on all equipment
Order and replace broken parts or equipment
Clean and sanitize portable restrooms
Operate and maintain generators, compressors, a UTV, compact tractor, and other work equipment and vehicles
Maintain the wiring and lighting for our generator-powered lighting system
Install and maintain irrigation pipes and drainage

Set-up for weddings and events - move and set-up picnic tables per the event order, wipe down all benches and tables, set out pillows, cushions, and game equipment. Put on tablecloths and set-out centerpieces. Set-up lighting. Set-out trash and recycling cans, Other preparation of the facilities as needed per the event order. Assist with the delivery and set-up of generators, portable bathrooms, heaters, and other rentals. Drag and water dirt roads for bus access.

THE DEPARTMENT

The department oversees the maintenance of public rights-of-way, including streets, sidewalks, traffic signals, streetlights, drainage systems, and the city's vehicle and equipment fleet. THE OPPORTUNITY
The Street Maintenance Worker I/II will be responsible for supporting the construction, repair, and upkeep of the City's streets and essential public infrastructure, playing a hands-on role in keeping Menifee safe, clean, and accessible. This position includes repairing sidewalks, and storm drains, removing graffiti, installing traffic signs, operating heavy equipment, and assisting with asphalt, concrete, and drainage projects. Depending on level, the position provides a pathway for growth: entry-level workers gain foundational experience under close supervision, while journey-level workers take on more complex assignments, exercise greater independence, and may guide specialty crews.
Street Maintenance Worker I: This is the entry level classification in the Street Maintenance Worker series. Incumbents perform the less skilled and more routine street maintenance, construction, and repair work. Incumbents at this level work under close supervision as they gain experience and demonstrate ability to perform a range of duties with minimal supervision. Removal of graffiti is done on a wide variety of surfaces and the treatment of surfaces with graffiti retardant materials. This class is distinguished from the Street Maintenance Worker II in that the latter performs work which requires a higher level of experience.
Street Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level classification in the Street Maintenance Worker series in which incumbents are expected to independently perform the full scope of assigned duties and may assist in the training of less experienced personnel. Incumbents perform a variety of duties in the maintenance and repair of streets, curbs, gutters, storm drains, streetlights and related public works facilities. This class is distinguished from the Senior Street Maintenance Worker in that the latter is a lead worker classification requiring additional experience and responsibility.
Positions in the Street Maintenance Worker I/II class series are flexibly staffed and positions at the Street Maintenance Worker II level are normally filled by advancement from the Street Maintenance Worker I level requiring two (2) additional years of experience and after gaining the knowledge, skill, and experience which meet the qualifications for and after demonstrating the ability to perform the work of the higher-level class. When filled from the outside, the employee is required to have at least three (3) years of prior related experience that allows the employee to meet the qualification standards for the II level.
The Street Maintenance Worker I/II will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
* Works safely and effectively in hot, cold, and otherwise inclement weather conditions while performing field duties.
* Participates in storm response and emergency operations, including working extended or irregular hours as needed to support critical services.
* Perform construction, maintenance, and repair work on public infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, gutters, storm drains, traffic signage, striping, and related facilities.
* Break and remove pavement; dig, shovel, haul, and load soil, sand, gravel, cement, asphalt, and other construction materials; clean and restore work sites upon project completion.

This position is responsible for operating equipment and performing skilled construction and maintenance work. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Construction Superintendent.The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. * Operates jackhammers, mowers, brush chippers, pipe saws, asphalt/concrete saws, and other small equipment.

* Assists with installing and maintaining traffic control devices.
* Performs all duties in accordance with applicable safety and security standards.
* Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment; reports defects and repairs needed to supervisor; cleans equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Valid Tennessee Driver's License.
* Stormwater Level 1 Certification required, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee's department, Emergency Management or City Administration. Such assignments may be before, during or after an emergency/disaster.
Guaranteed 40 hours Monday through Saturday. Some Saturdays could be required due to weather.
