Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, repair and complete preventative maintenance on Ground Service Equipment (both motorized and non-motorized)
Work will include diagnostic testing and repair of gas engines, transmissions, suspension and brake systems
Troubleshooting and repair of diesel engines, heavy industrial equipment, including large aircraft air conditioners, air start and ground electrical power units
Ground Service Equipment Technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT)
Schedules are bid and awarded according to seniority
Salary increases will be administered according to the current IBT/United contract
New employees are required to join the union within ninety (90) days of employment
There is an initiation fee for joining the union and subsequent monthly union dues which are set by the Local Lodge
Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
24 months of experience with troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of gas and diesel engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, and motorized equipment
Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent
Must possess a valid state issued driver's license
Ability to work any shift assigned (nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed) within 24/7 operation
Ability to climb and work from ladders, and/or walk for extended periods
Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions
Ability to work in an environment with exposure to high noise levels
Moderate lifting
Computer experience for input and retrieval of data

d) Plain, ball, roller, thrust, liner and guide bearings. Bearing mounts and mounting techniques, inspection, care and replacement. Analyze bearing failure and determine probable cause(s).
e) Lubrication. Types of lubricants, viscosity classifications, methods of lubrication and the proper storage, handling, and disposal of lubricants.
2) Troubleshoot to the component level, research manufacturers' manuals and data, identify replacement parts and properly requisition replacement parts and assembles through the plant's logistics system.
a) Use of manuals, checklist, schematics, blueprints, test equipment and other diagnostic tools

3) Observe equipment in operation and detect problems through sight or sound

a) Pneumatic systems:
i) Shut-off valves, pressure regulator, pressure gauge, lubricators, hose coupling, and the hose.

Job Description
The SFMTA Transit Division's Maintenance of Way (MOW) Section is seeking an experienced, dependable, and strategic Deputy Chief Maintenance Officer (DCMO) of MOW Operations. The DCMO will provide high level leadership and strategic oversight for three functional units responsible for critical maintenance of all transit assets and infrastructure; Mechanical Infrastructure (comprised of Cable Car Track, Cable Car Propulsion, Light Rail Track, and Mechanical Systems), Electrical Infrastructure (comprised of Motive Power, Overhead Lines, Signals and Digital Systems) and Facilities Maintenance (comprised of Custodial Operations, Building Systems Maintenance, Skilled Trades, External Program Support and Shelter Platform and Maintenance). Under the direction of the Chief Maintenance Officer (CMO), the DCMO, stewards the agency's fixed-guideway infrastructure integrity and drives operational excellence through comprehensive planning, performance management, and analytical decision-making. Leads the development and execution of complex, high-impact programs that ensure safe, reliable, and high-quality transit infrastructure in support of SFMTA's multimodal operations. The DCMO advises and reports to the CMO on the state of critical guideway systems. The DCMO works closely with SFMTA engineering and project delivery stakeholders on capital projects, including review and recommendations related to all aspects of the projects. The DCMO provides direction on emergency response and resolution strategies for critical infrastructure incidents. The DCMO ensures all standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements are upheld and serves as representative to regulatory bodies and key stakeholders, including the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), and San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH).
The MOW section of the SFMTA Transit Division directly oversees the fixed guideway infrastructure to ensure smooth and safe operations of our rail and trolley-bus lines. Qualifications
1. Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; AND

Eight (8) years of full-time experience at a mass transit agency in the operation, maintenance and repair in any of the following: power generating and related distribution systems; and/or electronic systems; and/or buildings, stations or passenger infrastructure; and/or use of heavy construction equipment; and/or track work; and/or maintenance engineering, which must have included five (5) years at the second supervisory level or management level which includes responsibility for supervising staff; AND
3. Possession of a valid driver's license.

Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Carpenter performs the full range of skilled journey-level carpentry and related work. Incumbents build, remodel, maintain, and repair a variety of structures and facilities, working from blueprints, specifications, drawings, and instructions. Work includes constructing, installing, and repairing woodwork, drywall, ceiling and floor tiles, roofing, cabinets, counters, shelves, partitions, doors, windows, and modular furniture. Carpenters also may instruct and provide lead direction to unskilled and semi-skilled assistants.
Position Information
* Installs, maintains, and repairs structural and finish components of campus facilities to provide an operationally sound and safe facility using a variety of power and hand tools, equipment, and materials. Activities include demolition of walls, floor systems, ceilings; dust protection; repairing/laying floor tile; building walls; hanging sheetrock, doors, door jambs, floors, and ceilings; constructing cabinets, casework, and related projects.
* Alters and constructs structural components of campus facilities using power and hand tools,equipment, and materials to ensure operational safety and compliance.
* Reviews and interprets plans, sketches, and instructions to support safe and effective facility construction and maintenance.
* Keeps records and maintains reports documenting estimates and actual costs for time and materials; analyzes costs using paper, pencil, calculator, or software.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge:
Work requires thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in both rough
and finished carpentry; various types and grades of lumber; hand and power carpentry tools; and applicable state safety codes and regulations pertaining to the carpentry trade, including the Safety Orders of the Division of Industrial Safety for the State of California and California State Building Codes.
Abilities:
Must be able to build, install and repair structural woodwork, flooring, ceilings and cabinetry; operate and maintain hand and power carpentry tools; read, interpret and work from blueprints, plans, drawings and specifications; recognize and select appropriate lumber types and grades; make rough sketches; estimate the cost, time and materials of carpentry projects; maintain records and retrieve data related to work performed using manual and/or computerized record-keeping systems; prepare standard reports; provide instruction to unskilled and semi-skilled assistants; analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations; read and write at a level appropriate to the position; and perform arithmetic calculations as required by the position. Incumbents may be required to possess a California Driver's License valid for the operation of any vehicle or equipment they are required to maintain and operate.
Experience:
These abilities normally would be acquired through any combination of progressively responsible
training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through the completion of a carpenter's apprenticeship program.

Key Responsibilities

Carpentry and Woodworking: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood for cabinets, displays, and other structures.

Plastics and Fiberglass Fabrication: Cut, form, bond, and weld plastic and fiberglass materials for various uses.

Normal work assignments may include evenings and weekends. Incumbents may be assigned to various departments in the City. Appointees to positions within this class shall be limited to appointments not to exceed 1000 hours (125) days in a fiscal year.
Depending on assignments:
* May perform grounds maintenance work such as picking up rubbish, raking leaves, moving and watering lawns, and pulling weeds.
* May assist maintenance and skilled trades personnel in forming building maintenance tasks.
* May perform routine unskilled, heavy manual laboring work in street maintenance such as cleaning gutters, drains, catch basins, and culverts; and repairing street surfaces by spreading, raking, or shoveling asphalt or other materials.

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) Wastewater Enterprise (WWE) operates and maintains San Francisco's combined sewer system to protect public health and the environment. These services extend across eight urban watersheds, more than 1,000 miles of pipe, 24 miles of transport and storage facilities and benefit every resident and visitor of San Francisco. WWE operates three all-weather wastewater treatment plants, one wet-weather facility, 32 pump stations, eight transport/storage facilities, and 34 combined sewer discharge structures to treat an estimated 34.6 billion gallons of wastewater in a typical year. Job Description:
This position performs preventive, routine and emergency maintenance/repair of a variety of Wastewater equipment and related system components. The incumbent will operate precision equipment and respond to trouble calls associated with Wastewater plant equipment and associated pump stations equipment. The nature of this work requires sustained physical effort and occasionally working in confined spaces. The incumbent may be required to work after hours due to staff shortages, to ensure safety and permit compliance or as part of a project or special event.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools, stationary as well as portable manual machine tools and Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machine tools such as mills, lathes, drills, saws etc.
* Rebuilds, refinishes, modifies, and/or fabricates component replacement parts for pumps, a variety type of valves, generators, cranes, special tools, compressors, pipelines, gear boxes, motors, bearings, bushings, shafts, and miscellaneous items throughout the Wastewater facilities.
* Maintains and repairs a variety of instruments and mechanical equipment, including valves, castings, and various metal parts.
* Diagnoses, installs, inspects, and tests machinery, parts, and equipment.
* Reads and interprets schematic drawings, blueprints, and plans.
* Prepares and maintains records and forms documenting work performed.
* Dismantles and assembles light and heavy machines and/or equipment.
* Manufactures/fabricates parts based on samples.
* Performs all related duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
Qualifications: A successful candidate will have the following:
Perform general maintenance and repair tasks across the museum, aquarium, and collections, including floors, walls, paint, automated doors, door hardware, restroom fixtures, access platforms, exhibit installations, aquarium tank and support spaces.

Experience and/or Education:

Proven experience or technical training in a minimum of two of the following:
Exhibit and Tank Repair: Skilled in maintaining aquarium and museum displays, including acrylic polishing and leak repairs.
Carpentry and Woodworking: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood for cabinets, displays, and other structures.
Metalwork: Cutting, bending, shaping, and assembling metal components. Metal framing for interior walls, partitions, and ceilings.
Plastics and Fiberglass Fabrication: Cut, form, bond, and weld plastic and fiberglass materials for various uses.
Welding: Proficient in MIG, TIG, and stick welding to join steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
Drywall Installation and Repair: Repair or replace drywall to a uniform, smooth finish.
Painting: Painting and finishing for architectural elements and exhibits, using specialized paints and textures.
Flooring: Install and repair carpet, hardwood, laminate, and vinyl flooring.
Tile Installation: Install and repair tile on walls and floors.
Furniture and Fixture Repair: Maintain and repair office furniture and fixtures, including seating, display stands, desks, and cabinets.
Door Hardware and Locks: Replace and repair commercial door locks, hinges, panic bars, closers, and automated openers.
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Familiarity with specialty paint products and applications.
Valid California driver's license.
Experience in the maintenance and repair of building hardware and surfaces.
Skilled in shop fabrication (woodworking, finish carpentry, metal fabrication, plastics fabrication).
Welding skills with MIG and/or TIG welders are desirable.
Good mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
Skilled and safe use of power tools, including shop production tools.
Previous experience or the ability to be trained in the safe and proper operation of scissor lifts, genie lifts, and forklifts.
Ability to work on ladders of various heights.
Ability to work swing shift.
