SUMMARY: The position of Maintenance Worker regardless of race, creed, or disability is responsible for building and grounds maintenance at all requested Head Start sites in Sangamon and Morgan Counties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Signs in/out daily when arriving and departing any Head Start site.
Cleans the building, including kitchen area, all offices, conference room, classrooms and bathrooms daily including removing garbage and dusting furniture as requested.
Assists in any other areas as needed.
Wax and clean uncarpeted floors monthly as requested.
Clean windows inside as needed.
Assist at all classrooms, when needed or maintenance is requested.
Check and make minor repairs on all equipment.
Report to the Site Manager on any major problems with electrical appliances and repairs.
Check centers weekly and replace any parts that are needed, such as lights, etc.
Get all painting in the centers completed as needed.
Attend all meetings required by the Maintenance Coordinator.
Must maintain sites in accordance to health, fire, and DCFS requirements.
See that all equipment is working properly.
Ensure that all exit lights and ceiling lights are in working order and fire extinguishers are up-to-date.
Ensure all sidewalks are clear of snow and ice at all times.
Ensure that outside areas and ground around the building and parking lots are kept clean and free of debris.
Clean carpets of classrooms twice a year or as requested.
Must vacuum all building carpets daily.
Must keep bathrooms clean and sanitized; check to see if any supplies are needed, and replace the same day.
The janitor room must be kept clean at all times, and equipment put up daily or after each use. No cleaning equipment or materials shall be left unlocked at anytime.
Wipe walls as needed.
Must ensure that trash hauling service removes trash - once or twice weekly according to contract.
Must see that the building is secured - all doors properly shut and outdoor tricycles, etc. stored nightly.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have reliable transportation.
Must be able to communicate in a positive manner.
Must be punctual and willing to work overtime if needed.
Must work and relate well with children, parents, and staff.
Ability to pass a medical examination certifying freedom from communicable diseases and illegal substances.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit, using hand tools and power tools.
Assemble machines, and bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools.
Lay out mounting holes, using measuring instruments, and drill holes with power drill.
Bolt parts, such as side and deck plates, jaw plates, and journals, to basic assembly unit.
Level bedplate and establish centerline, using straightedge, levels, and transit.
Dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
Shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels to specified items, using portable gas heating equipment.
Dismantle machinery and equipment for shipment to installation site, usually performing installation and maintenance work as part of team.
Construct foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement, and steel.
Operate engine lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required for this Position:
Education - no minimum education requirements.
Experience - 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.

PURPOSE OF POSITION
Reporting to the Department Supervisor, the MaintenanceTechnician is to provide assistance to production crews in mechanical and machine operations, building and facilities and associated equipment.
Task and Responsibilities:
Understand the operation of pneumatics, hydraulics and general mechanics.
PM plant equipment mechanically.
Be able to use hand tools, welder and cutting torch.
Must be able to score the minimum required on the corporate maintenance test.
Adhere to Nortrak's Environmental, Safety and Quality Procedures, Practices and Policies.
Follows all LOTO procedures & conducts LOTO as needed.
Job Requirements (e.g. education, experience, skills and desired competencies)
High School graduate or GED preferred.
Vocational technical training in mechanical related field is preferred.
Must have three (3) years of tech training or equivalent experience;
Must be able to score the minimum required on the corporate maintenance test .
Forklift and Crane certification preferred.
Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and pushing, pulling, or lifting objects for the duration of your required schedule shift.
Use hands and arms to operate tools, handle materials, and reach for the duration of your required scheduled shift.
Regularly lift and carry 30-35 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Hearing abilities necessary to perform job tasks safely and effectively.
