ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Assist senior mechanics in performing maintenance and repairs on industrial, large-scale equipment used in a metals recovery/recycling facility (conveyors, shredders, pumps, electric motors, gearboxes, cranes/overhead hoists, hydraulic systems). Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks such as checking oil/fluid levels, lubricating components, inspecting guards and safety devices, and replacing simple components (filters, belts, hoses, fittings). Support disassembly and reassembly of machinery and components for repair or replacement of worn parts (bearings, couplings, seals, rollers, idlers, wear liners). Assist in equipment inspections to identify leaks, worn parts, misalignment, unusual noise/vibration, and other mechanical failures; report findings. Learn to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders to understand equipment specifications and safe work practices. Communicate effectively with supervisor regarding progress and completion of assigned tasks. Participate in on-the-job training to improve mechanical skills under supervision of experienced mechanics. Requirements: ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certification is a plus).
