Pickup and delivery of cargo to and from various destinations usually within proximity of the consolidation/distribution center. The loading and unloading of trailers utilizing the same techniques, technology and procedures as a dock worker. Actual duties and schedule may vary depending on terminal location.
Responsibilities
* Load and unload cargo.
* Operate a forklift as needed.
* Exercise independent judgment regarding the building and tearing down of the trailer to utilize time, resources, energy, and physical demands effectively and efficiently, while complying with all weight distribution laws.
* Complete routine paperwork effectively, and properly log loading sheets.
* Other duties, as assigned.
* Perform various tasks ranging from check-in, tractor/trailer inspection, tractor set up, and the pickup and delivery of cargo.

* 1 year of verifiable tractor/trailer experience (Candidates with less than 1 year experience may be eligible for training).

* Be able to pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and meet DOT medical requirements.

**Requirements:**
+ Class B CDL
+ Manual Transmission - Required
+ Clean Driving Record (No major traffic violations, tickets or accidents for the last 7 years.)

**Responsibilities:**
+ Safely operate commercial vehicle while driving and maneuvering in a variety of situations, such as heavy traffic, construction sites, and tight areas within Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
+ Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules, regulations, and guidelines.
+ Complete daily pre- and post-trip inspection and maintain inspection reports.
+ Maintain daily mileage logs and work tickets.
+ Maintain assigned vehicle(s) to a high standard of cleanliness.
+ Ensure the company's health and safety culture, policies and requirements are met.
+ Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers.

Responsibilities:
Check the vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare truck for operation by assisting in and overseeing the loading of trucks, securing of items and verifying the accuracy of shipping papers.
Deliver orders via the most effective route to ensure complete orders are delivered according to established time frames and customers' needs.
Document delivery, accuracy and receipt of orders by the customer according to company directives and report any discrepancies to company.
Maintain and monitor truck maintenance and driving record requirements, and maintain required documents for safety, security and quality processes.
Maintain a safe driving record free of violations.
Follow company policies and procedures (including safety initiatives and guidelines).
Inspect truck tires, lights, brakes, fluids, etc. to ensure safe and cost-effective performance with preventive maintenance in mind.
Maintain communication with company during deliveries to ensure any updated instructions are received.
Perform occasional warehouse and counter duties.

Schedule: • Sunday through Monday • PM start time

Qualifications
Qualifications:• Valid CDL Class B license with Airbrake endorsement required• Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card required• 1 year of documented relevant commercial vehicle driving experience in the last 5 years required• 3 years DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations or accidents• Follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job• Work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.• This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. Associates must have the ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others.
