This is a non-exempt position, which is moderately heavy manual work in the care and maintenance of municipal buildings. An employee in this classification is responsible for the performance of a wide variety of housekeeping tasks. Primary responsibility is for the use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and caring for municipal buildings and equipment. Work is normally performed under the supervision of a higher classified employee who issues work orders and instructions. Work is reviewed by the immediate supervisor; constant supervision is not necessary for routine and repetitive tasks. Employees are hired as AT WILL employees that serve at the pleasure of the City and may be terminated at any time with or without cause. Examples of Duties Duties include the use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and caring for municipal buildings. Scrub, mop, vacuum, sweep and polish floors. Dust and polish furniture. Wash windows, walls, toilets, washrooms and fixtures. Empty waste baskets. Move office furniture and equipment as directed. Set up chairs, tables and equipment for meetings, classes, special events, etc. May perform miscellaneous pick-up and delivery of errands as required. Executes purchase orders authorized by the department director. This position does not have final procurement authority. Performs related work as required and as directed. Typical Qualifications Knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in cleaning and maintaining municipal buildings and property. Ability to perform routine building maintenance, such as scrub, mop, vacuum, sweep and polish floors, clean office area, restrooms, etc. Ability to move office furniture and equipment, set up chairs, tables and equipment for meetings, classes, special events, etc. Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to complete work assignments correctly. Ability to adhere to tight schedules and still maintain work quality. Ability to use hand tools, mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, ladders and cleaning materials. Ability to perform routine minor repairs such as changing light bulbs and ballast, window repairs, plumbing repairs, etc. Ability to operate a City vehicle and possess the required license. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other municipal employees, City officials and the general public. Skilled in the use and safe operation of equipment used in completing assigned tasks and knowledge of safety rules as required by the City. Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform a variety of routine custodial tasks in the care and limited maintenance of buildings and equipment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: May include but are not limited to: * Must adhere to the Seminole Tribe's Policies and Procedures. * Knowledge of Seminole Classic Casino policies, procedures and schedules to insure minimal interruption to business operations and to prioritize projects appropriately. * Responds to maintenance service calls in a timely manner. * Fills out maintenance request forms when task is complete and turns them in to Shift Manager. * General repairs to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and all other public areas work requests. * Possesses a high level of attention to detail as it pertains to Front of House areas. * Knowledge of maintenance as it relates to furniture, painting, wall covering, lighting, plumbing and flooring. * Maintains technical logs and records all relevant data as appropriate. * Knowledge of Seminole Classic Casino's policies, procedures and schedules to insure minimal interruption to business operations and to prioritize projects appropriately. * Promotes positive public/employee relations at all times. * Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility. * Performs all other related and compatible/non-compatible duties as assigned. * Performs preventive maintenance and repairs relative to plumbing, electrical, mechanical, heating, and cooling or ventilation systems as assigned. * Fills out maintenance request forms when task is complete and turns them in to the Maintenance Shift Supervisor. Qualifications * High school diploma or technical certificate as well as a minimum of one (1) to three (3) years' experience with commercial/industrial plumbing or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. * Must possess excellent hand/eye coordination as well as close vision. * Must be able to read, understand and interpret schematics, plans, and diagrams and drawings. WORK ENVIRONMENT: * Must be able to work in a smoking environment * Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. * The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. * Prolonged period of walking, reaching, climbing and moving/carrying weight of up 50 to 100 lbs. * Must be able to work in high and low/precarious places, be near fiberglass insulation and under sinks and cabinets.
