Position Summary:
The Food and Beverage Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing a variety of food and beverage service equipment to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance with sanitation standards. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, and minor repairs in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Troubleshoot and independently repair food and beverage equipment, including diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
2. Assist with the installation, programming, and calibration of food and beverage systems, including refrigeration and dispensing units.
3. Lead smaller maintenance or repair projects, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to company standards.
4. Mentor entry-level technicians by providing guidance, support, and on-the-job training to improve their technical skills.
5. Collaborate with vendors or contractors for equipment repairs and installations, ensuring adherence to company and industry standards.
6. Manage inventory, including stocking supplies, ordering parts, and resolving discrepancies promptly.
7. Communicate effectively with store personnel, delivering excellent customer service and maintaining professionalism.
8. Maintain accurate and timely work order notes while meeting KPI metrics for travel time, SLA, and efficiency.
9. Adhere to workplace safety protocols, company policies, and industry regulations (e.g., OSHA, safety codes, building codes) while completing tasks.
10. Identify and promptly report safety hazards or compliance issues to the maintenance supervisor.
11. Perform other duties as assigned by the management team to support departmental objectives.

Minimum Education:

Assist in sustainment of moving equipment, storage areas and equipment maintenance. Notify E&SS management of any equipment needing to be repaired and/or replaced.
Comply with standing instructions provided by operating manuals, safety rules and regulations for personal protection and safety and the safety of others. Report instances of vandalism/theft of Institute property immediately to Supervisor or Public Safety. Maintain work and storage areas in a clean, organized and safe condition.
Perform snow removal functions in accordance with the Institute snow removal plan. Respond to and be available for weather related emergencies as necessary to maintain safe transportation through campus. Operate, maintain and inspect all snow removal equipment in accordance with Institute's standards.
Perform tasks necessary for routine maintenance of campus grounds. Inspect, maintain and operate grounds and field related power equipment at proper working and safety standards. Clean equipment at the end of each use. Report and document any needed repairs of equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.

In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have been legal residents of New York State for at least FOUR months immediately preceding the date of hire. Preference will be given to Rensselaer County Residents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of experience in either general building maintenance or building trades work in one or more of the standard trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, or electrical; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. New York State Driver License is required.
High School Diploma or equivalency is preferred.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Building MaintenanceWorker performs under general instructions and work is performed under immediate or general supervision, depending upon the nature of the task. The Building MaintenanceWorker reports to the Building MaintenanceWorker I or II and performs the following duties:
• Performs semi-skilled work in masonry, carpentry, electrical or painting operations.
• Helps to install and repair wiring systems and electrical fixtures and equipment.
• Repairs windows, doors, floors, walls and other parts of buildings.
• Does interior and exterior painting where quantity rather than fine quality of work performed is the principal object.
• Helps to install and repair general plumbing equipment, such as sinks, toilets and baths.
• Assists in cleaning and repairing boilers, pumps, heaters, pipe lines, valves and traps.
• Mixes plaster and concrete and assists in laying brick, plastering walls, finishing concrete work, etc.
• Operates trucks, automobiles, air compressors, and other motorized equipment.
• Takes part in general grounds maintenance activities.
• Serves as general handyman performing a variety of semi-skilled duties.
• Performs other related duties that may be assigned.
This is a full-time 12-month, 40-hour work week position with an hourly rate of $22.26. Start date is immediate.
