Major Duties:
The incumbent of this position performs as a Maintenance Worker at Cowpens National Battlefield in Gaffney, SC, Kings Mountain National Military Park in Blacksburg, SC, or Ninety Six National Historic Site in Ninety Six, SC.
The incumbent must be self-directed and able to perform duties with minimum supervision. Work includes tasks associated with trades such as:
* Carpentry repairs using simple measurements and hand tools, painting and staining surfaces using brushes and rollers
* Minor plumbing repairs such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures which do not require custom fitting or solder joints.
* Electrical work such as diagnosing/changing bulbs, fixtures, switches, breakers and outlets
* Additional tasks includes operating light trucks, tractors, UTVs, mowers, forklift, and bobcat to transport supplies and materials, and perform grounds and trail maintenance.
* Incumbent will perform custodial services in and around park facilities.
The incumbent is a member of the parks group maintenance team reporting directly to the Superintendent.
Location Information:
All basic services including schools, medical and shopping facilities are located within a short drive of each park. There is a full range of housing for sale or rent in the area and the cost of living is considered low to moderate. Temperatures for the area range from very hot and humid in the summer to cool and moderate in the winter.
Cowpens National Battlefield, Kings Mountain National Military Park, Ninety Six National Historic Site, and the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail are grouped administratively. Staff within the group of parks share subject matter expertise, and travel between the sites for training, shared work requirements, and for mutual support during activities such as such as special events.

Non-Competitive Rehire Eligibility: Temporary seasonal employees can only maintain their non-competitive rehire eligibility if they work no more than a combined total of Temporary NTE less than 1040 hours anywhere in the National Park Service (NPS) within their established service year. Accordingly, non-competitive rehire eligibility allows for re-appointment to the same position or another position appropriate for temporary appointment with the same qualification requirements (5 CFR 316.402[b][7]), based on series and grade, anywhere in the major subdivision (NPS).
