PURPOSE

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary function of an employee in this class is to perform maintenance, repair, inspection, and service work on District school grounds, including equipment, machinery, irrigation systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Performs general grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, weeding, and application of herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers;

Assists with scheduled maintenance, repair, and installation work on irrigation systems:
Performs painting and graffiti removal duties;
Prepares and maintains gardens, trees and shrubs, playground playing surfaces,, and other planting areas;

Purchase required materials using District purchase order forms;

POSITION SUMMARY:
The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform the inspection and maintenance of new and existing valves throughout the city. The work is performed under the supervision and direction of the Assistant Superintendent-Capital- Maintenance Water & Irrigation Division, but considerable leeway is granted for exercise and judgment and initiative. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee establish and maintain effective working relationships with the assigned supervisor, other City employees, State and Federal regulatory agencies, vendors, contractors, and the public.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and to keep valve mapping data current on the G.I.S. program.
* Performs inspection/maintenance on new and existing valves.
* Domestic and Irrigation valve operations/exercise for Engineering projects shut off/turn on.
* Exercise valves for domestic and irrigation- Asset management program
* Installs and maintains valves according to ISPWC, ANSI/AWWA C502, and City of Nampa Section 403 Standards.
* Maintains accurate records and files on all valves.
* Collects and conducts tests on water samples and equipment in accordance with EPA procedures.
* Operates a variety of complex heavy, light, and motorized equipment, including backhoe, excavator, skid steer, vacuum excavator, hydraulic valve exerciser and other related equipment in accordance with licensing and safety standards.
* Assumes responsibility for other duties as required or assigned, and attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
