Responsibilities:
The Mechanic B role is an advanced level machine technician that would be responsible for fully understanding an assigned machine center, while being fully capable of performing minor repairs, PMs and troubleshooting and the machine. This role will build necessary capabilities to take on a mechanic level role at full development.
Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance and testing on equipment
Perform maintenance tasks to include repairing and improving, from minor rebuilds to major overhauls on all equipment
Identify processing waste reduction opportunities and assist in reduction projects
Participate in preventative maintenance program to help reduce costs of operations through PM optimization
Dismantle, clean, repair and test electrical, electronic and mechanical components to determine component-level failure

Recommend equipment to be included in preventive maintenance programs

Rebuild worn-out, but reusable, pieces of equipment, such as gearboxes for scheduled PM's

Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience; additional technical training or certifications desired
Three or more years proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
Candidates must complete the Mechanical Aptitude Test before being considered
Prior experience with high-and low-pressure compressors, chillers, water treatment, boilers is preferred
Strong technical knowledge of compressed air systems (pneumatics), electrical systems, hydraulics and water processing is preferred

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

What You'll Do:

Facility related maintenance activities including, but not limited to general lighting, facility inspections and audits, air compressor systems, and emergency or temporary overhead door repairs
Repairs to carts, stands, lifts and material handling equipment used in the daily sorting and transporting of products within the facility. This does not include major repairs or preventative maintenance to powered forklifts
Assist with controls support and troubleshooting. Identify Electrical issues. (Replace standard components - Ex: Photo eyes, MDR's, Proxes, Encoders, plc's, emergency stops, conveyor belts)
Complete preventive maintenance schedule
Maintain spare parts list and inventory
Maintain material handling system on site once system is installed
Assist in controls debug
Timely completion of all reports and logs to include time reports and travel expenses
Maintain consistent positive and enthusiastic attitude
Timely communication of all concerns and issues with the Facilities Manager
Pursue professional training and certifications
Able to mentor other maintenance staff

Essential Job Functions:
Perform battery care and changes, including basic preventive maintenance on auxiliary equipment, i.e., balers, battery wash and charging stations, battery changer, and other equipment as assigned.
Manage cardboard baler process to include removing bales, operating baler and associated systems, clearing jams as needed, and minor preventive maintenance.
Perform basic repairs to equipment.
Assemble and disassemble various types of equipment using basic tools.
Tests and inspects safety harnesses.
Painting and minor building repairs, including changing light bulbs, basic plumbing, etc.
Completes and maintains maintenance related logs, documentation related to maintenance actions, parts usage, etc.
Maintain floors in the warehouse as needed.
General labor and housekeeping duties.
Maintain grounds as required, including cleaning sidewalks, emptying trash receptacles, equipment cleaning, snow/ice removal, etc.
Assists Maintenance Mechanics as needed.
Performs duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of six months to one year experience in a maintenance environment with demonstrated knowledge and proficiency.
Ability to stand the duration of the shift and work in climates.
Familiar with basic hand tools
Must become comfortable with working at different heights as needed
Familiar with OSHA / NFPA standards.
Maintains safe work practices at all times including wearing PPE and using LOTO.
