This position performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled maintenance tasks to ensure that parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, and community spaces are well-maintained and ready for public use. Work is reviewed through observation for adherence to established policies and procedures. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Perform daily upkeep of park grounds including mowing, edging, trimming, raking, weed removal, and litter collection. * Clean and sanitize restrooms, pavilions, playgrounds, and recreational areas; replenish supplies as needed. * Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout the facility and dispose of waste properly. * Clean and maintain commercial prep kitchen areas and appliances. * Assist with the maintenance and repair of park amenities including irrigation systems, picnic shelters, fences, and signage. * Operate small equipment such as blowers, trimmers, mowers, and pressure washers safely and efficiently. * Support preparation and cleanup for special events, programs, and rentals hosted by the Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. * Perform inspections and report safety hazards, vandalism, or maintenance concerns to supervisory staff. * Assist with painting, landscaping, and minor construction or repair projects as assigned. * Follow all departmental and City safety standards and operational procedures. Training and Experience: * High school diploma or equivalent preferred. * Previous experience in parks, facilities, or grounds maintenance preferred. * Valid Florida Driver's License preferred. B. Knowledge. Abilities and Skills: * Ability to safely operate basic hand tools and maintenance equipment. * Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions. * Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 pounds. * Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with general public and co-workers. * Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
