Qualifications and Requirements:
Maintain parts system accuracy by monitoring on‑hand quantities and ensuring all purchase orders are completed, received correctly, and documented.
Manage all parts orders and POs, including receipt documentation and timely submission to Accounts Payable.
Oversee parts inventory levels, replenish stock, order components, and apply mechanical knowledge to identify parts accurately.
Inspect incoming stock to verify compliance with specifications and purchase order requirements.
Store materials properly in bins, shelves, or designated floor areas based on style, size, or material type.
Enter new PM tasks into iMaint, including daily/weekly/monthly schedules, and create filing binders when needed.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
The MaintenanceWorker is responsible for all renovations, adherence to safety codes and management of physical plant emergencies. She/he is also responsible for daily cleaning and housekeeping activities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily house run to assess condition of the facility relative to agency standards and determine areas of concern.
Ongoing maintenance of plumbing, electricity, heating and wiring.
Responsible for emergency and minor repairs to be completed in a timely fashion.
Responsible for responding to resident work orders in a timely fashion.
Responsible for ensuring apartment/living quarters are well maintained and clean.

REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
High School Diploma or G.E.D required
Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a New York City building, preferably, in a residential social service setting.
Must have a valid NYC Fire Department Certificate of Fitness.
Valid NYS Driver's License highly preferred but not required.
Proficiency with computer operation (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook programs).
Must be able to work a flexible schedule.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior of facility. Make repairs such as carpentry, painting, plumbing and some electrical. Responsible for preventative maintenance of heating/cooling and domestic water systems. Receive and store deliveries of maintenance/office supplies. Lifting of boxes and moving furniture as needed. On call for emergencies, which may require early and/or late hours. Be a member of the fire safety team. Participate in fire drills and related duties as assigned.
HOURS:
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years experience in building maintenance and/or building trades. Work experience in one or more standard trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical or combination of training from an accredited trade school and experience. Ability to read and follow instructions. Work efficiently as part of a team and/or independently. Must be able to frequently lift/carry objects weighing up to 70 lbs. Must be able to walk, stoop, bend, crouch, sit, kneel, climb and crawl. High School Diploma or GED required. Ability to communicate in English. Fire Safety Director Certificate is preferred.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
This 200-bed shelter is designed for homeless men who are in need of job training and employment. Located at BRC's new Landing Road facility in the Bronx, this new shelter opened in January 2018. Similar to the Palace Employment Residence, the Reaching New Heights Residence provides temporary housing for a period of six to nine months. During this time, clients are guided through a structured continuum of treatment and training designed to give them the skills they need to address any substance abuse and/or health issues and to find and maintain permanent employment and housing. The Reaching New Heights Residence is funded by the NYC Department of Homeless Services.
