Ability to stand, stoop and bend for extended periods and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to traverse sandy, marshy or wooded areas with even or uneven terrain. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Ability to work varied hours depending upon park demands. Possession of Pesticide Applicator License (PAL) including core and categories 3A, 3B and 6 or ability to obtain within 6 months of position start date. Ten years of related experience for Specialist Level 06. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: Ability and aptitude to follow instructions. Ability to apply knowledge of plumbing, heating and cooling, and electrical methods. Ability to apply knowledge of materials, tools, practices and methods of grounds maintenance. Knowledge of turf grass and landscape maintenance practices. TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED: Requires the frequent use of hand tools used for raking, digging, pruning, leveling, repair of irrigation systems; custodial tools such as brooms, mops, toilet plungers; landscape equipment consisting of large mowers, small tractors, groomers and snow blowers; basic construction tools such as hammers, saws, tape measures, carpenter square. Miscellaneous hand and power tools used for turf maintenance, caprentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and cement finishing work. Less use of personal computer, word processing, phone, radio, calculator and copy machine.
