Salary: $15.00 - $27.72 Hourly Job Type: Part Time OR Part-Time Will Call Department: PUBLIC WORKS CENTRAL SERVICES FACILITIES works night shifts for the Police department and will require a level II background.
This is a non-exempt position, which is moderately heavy manual work in the care and maintenance of municipal buildings.
An employee in this classification is responsible for the performance of a wide variety of housekeeping tasks. Primary responsibility is for the use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and caring for municipal buildings and equipment. Work is normally performed under the supervision of a higher classified employee who issues work orders and instructions. Work is reviewed by the immediate supervisor; constant supervision is not necessary for routine and repetitive tasks.
Employees are hired as AT WILL employees that serve at the pleasure of the City and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.
Examples of Duties
Duties include the use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and caring for municipal buildings.
Scrub, mop, vacuum, sweep and polish floors.
Dust and polish furniture.
Wash windows, walls, toilets, washrooms and fixtures.
Empty waste baskets.
Move office furniture and equipment as directed.
Set up chairs, tables and equipment for meetings, classes, special events, etc.
May perform miscellaneous pick-up and delivery of errands as required.
Executes purchase orders authorized by the department director.
This position does not have final procurement authority.
Performs related work as required and as directed.
Typical Qualifications
Knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in cleaning and maintaining municipal buildings and property.
Ability to perform routine building maintenance, such as scrub, mop, vacuum, sweep and polish floors, clean office area, restrooms, etc.
Ability to move office furniture and equipment, set up chairs, tables and equipment for meetings, classes, special events, etc.
Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to complete work assignments correctly.
Ability to adhere to tight schedules and still maintain work quality.
Ability to use hand tools, mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, ladders and cleaning materials.
Ability to perform routine minor repairs such as changing light bulbs and ballast, window repairs, plumbing repairs, etc.
Ability to operate a City vehicle and possess the required license.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other municipal employees, City officials and the general public.
Skilled in the use and safe operation of equipment used in completing assigned tasks and knowledge of safety rules as required by the City.
Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform a variety of routine custodial tasks in the care and limited maintenance of buildings and equipment.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Some experience in the performance of custodial work; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.

Work Environment
This is a designated "Recovery" classification in the City's Emergency Operations Plan and will require the employee occupying this position to work for declared emergencies. Attendance at National Incident Management System (NIMS) training at the appropriate level is mandatory.
Probationary Period
All new employees serve a one (1) year probationary period from date of hire.
Pay Check
Pay checks are issued bi-weekly every other Friday; direct deposit of paycheck required to any banking institution is mandatory.

THE ROLE
The Facility Technician is a part-time, event-based position responsible for facility maintenance, general cleaning, and the setup and breakdown of event spaces at the Charles F. Dodge City Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES QUALIFICATIONS

JOB SUMMARY
The MaintenanceWorker (MW) reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and maintains/repairs physical structures of buildings and grounds. The MW is responsible for completing all duties assigned in a timely and safe manner, at the lowest feasible cost.

Helps keep tools and equipment oiled and maintained in good working order. Stores tools and equipment in a safe, secure locked area.
Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with Maintenance Supervisor or other maintenanceworkers to diagnose problems or repair machine or equipment.
Makes preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment, reports findings to Maintenance Supervisor and takes appropriate action as assigned. Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
Notifies Maintenance Supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and correction action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed
Assists maintenance Supervisor in maintaining an up-to-date inventory of tools and equipment
Assists Maintenance Supervisor in conduction routine safety and maintenance checks of all leased and owned facilities
Assists Maintenance Supervisor in conducting and evaluation long-term needs in relation to major projects and property improvements
Repairs parking lot and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials and concrete

OVERVIEW
The MaintenanceWorker will be responsible for applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems and ensure facilities are tidy and functional. The MaintenanceWorker will report to the Lead Housekeeping and MaintenanceWorker.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain facility in a safe, functional and presentable manner and complete all maintenance service requests as assigned;
Assist in performing general repair/maintenance to include, but not limited to electrical, building, plumbing, landscaping, painting, carpentry, and basic remodeling.;
Assist in maintaining inventory and security of all maintenance equipment and supplies related to the facility and grounds;
Request maintenance supplies and equipment as needed from supervisor or designee;
Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created;
Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, rest rooms, corridors, stairways, and other work areas, and gather and remove litter;
Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways and other grounds features;
Ensure compliance of all work-related activities, following establish policies, local, state and federal guidelines;
Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned; and
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Two years' experience in maintenance work and knowledge of plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems, basic construction knowledge and skills;

Perfect Attendance:
For every six (6) months period (April 1 - September 30) and (October 1 - March 31) in which, no sick or unpaid leave is utilized, an employee shall receive ten (10) hours of annual leave credited. Employees who qualify for a consecutive Perfect Attendance benefit shall receive fourteen (14) hours of annual leave credited for each applicable consecutive earning period.
Sick Leave:
Each employee earns (96) hours (12 days) of sick leave annually with no waiting period for use and unlimited accrual. Upon separation of City employment due to resignation, employee shall receive payment of all accrued sick leave at a rate of twenty-five percent (25%) of the employee's current rate of pay at time of resignation. Upon separation of employment due to retirement, employee shall receive payment of all accrued sick leave at a rate of fifty percent (50%) of the employee's current rate of pay at the time of retirement.
Sick Leave Conversion:
After completion of one (1) year of continuous, full-time employment with the City, an employee may convert their unused portion of their first six (6) days (maximum of forty-eight (48) hours) of accrued sick leave into annual leave. Conversions are subject to the following: A minimum of 96 unused sick leave hours accrued prior to hours being converted, total eligible sick leave hours to be converted shall be reduced hour-for-hour by any sick leave hours utilized during the eligible benefit period, and conversion subject to annual leave accrual cap.
