Job Summary EMCOR Facilities Services has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Technician in Suffolk, VA. The Technician will report daily to the EMCOR Site Supervisor and support him to provide quality workmanship and high work standards to maintain a professional working environment. Repairs of Walls, Floors, Doors and any painting and touch up work for beautification of facility. Repair and unclog toilets, urinals, replace and maintain electric valve assemblies and repair/maintain sensors for automatic flush kits, as well as all other plumbing related to the facility. Responsible for exterior landscape clean/touch up and maintaining specific areas clean and free of debris. Exterior daily inspections of landscape, parking area, parking lots, bollards, lighting, etc. Must be able to repair cabinets, doors including closure devices, repair and paint walls and replace carpet squares. Capable of building small wood items such as platforms, monitor frames and shipping crates. Attends weekly toolbox safety meetings with Site Supervisor and other associates. Utilizes mandatory safety equipment to perform tasks. Obtains and completes EFS required training. Secondary responsibilities include having the knowledge to oversee the daily operations, daily communication with the client, building automation adjustments and managing the maintenance/repair needs at the facility. Qualifications Education (HS Diploma, Under/Graduate Degree, etc.) HS Diploma Business Experience (prior years work/related experience) 3 - 5 years of experience related to facility maintenance. Licenses/Certifications Valid US driver's license Must have an active Secret Security Clearance or ability to apply/obtain upon start date. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization. Technical Qualifications & Skills Ability to perform various general type maintenance tasks. Physical Demands The ability to lift 50lbs, climb ladders and ability to walk the facility throughout the day are required. Have the ability to regularly kneel repetitively during shift. Have the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis. Have the ability to work and maneuver on a variety of terrains. Have the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress. The Maintenance Worker is responsible for: To maintain, repair and clean mechanical areas/equipment and to assist other trade mechanics in their duties to ensure a safe, clean and well maintained hotel. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The Maintenance Worker's primary responsibilities will include: Work with all trade mechanics as required to help with repairs and maintenance. Must have good mechanical ability and be willing to learn and take direction from trade mechanics. Skill in the use of basic hand and electric tools and familiarity with parts and materials is required. Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats. Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting. • Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives. • Mix and match colors of paint, stain, or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colors and consistencies. Polish final coats to specified finishes. Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using a carpenter's hand and power tools. • Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting. • Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water and/or abrasive blasting. • Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements and/or work orders. • Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisors to determine work requirements. • Cut, fit, and assemble wood and other materials for the construction of buildings, highways, bridges, docks, industrial plants, boats, and many other structures. Qualifications: Education: • High School diploma or GED. • Courses in carpentry, shop, mechanical drawing, and general mathematics. Experience/Skill Sets: • 3 years of experience and knowledge in building and ground maintenance, skilled in painting, demolition and related tasks. • Ability to use techniques, hand tools, power tools, materials, and appropriate equipment. • Ability to carry 50 pounds for 50 yards. • Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance. • Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
