The Senior Maintenance Mechanic reports to the shift supervisor and involves highly skilled troubleshooting and preventative maintenance, and repair of complex electro-mechanical equipment, including electronic controls, conveyor systems, production machinery, and support equipment. What You'll Do:
Maximize uptime utilizing expert knowledge and troubleshooting techniques with electrical systems including power distribution, motor controls, variable speed controllers, robotics, automated packaging machinery, process equipment including pumps, valves, meters and mixing equipment.
Analyze equipment performance, troubleshoot to isolate the problem, determine (and perform) actions needed to restore the system to performance specifications.
Lead the diagnosis and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment issues, using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
Perform routine preventive maintenance to enhance equipment performance and minimize downtime.
Identify and replace defective components, ensuring high standards of machinery operation.
Participate as necessary in new projects to install or improve the safety and performance of existing and new equipment.
Mentor and assist junior mechanics, fostering skill development and troubleshooting capabilities.
Experience in welding/fabrication. May conduct welding (stick, MIG, TIG) and operate machine tools (lathe, Bridgeport, drill press) as needed.
What You'll Bring:
Ten+ years of maintenance experience, ideally including experience at an OEM or similar
Expert in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs of industrial equipment and facilities including working knowledge of mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and facility systems (hot water, compressed air, refrigeration.)
Experience in food processing required; experience with packaging machinery preferred
MA Fireman 2 License and/or Ammonia Operator 1 Certification preferred
Advanced knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic power systems, conveyor systems, or control systems
Knowledge of PLC's is required
Initiative, critical thinking, complex problem solving, judgement and decision making, persistence, attention to detail, adaptability, flexibility, concern for others and leadership
Utilize CMMS, identify trends, and use data to drive improvements to the preventative maintenance process

We are looking for positive, reliable, and honest individual who will take pride in their work and can thrive in a challenging setting. The applicant must be able to work on a flexible schedule from 6:00AM to 6:00PM at the discretion of management. This is a non-exempt seasonal contractual position. Applicants will work on a contractual hourly basis. The applicant must comply with all institutional policies regarding safety and security within the correctional facility. The individual selected for this position shall be cognizant of the confidential and sensitive nature of working in a law enforcement agency. This position reports to the Assistant Deputy Superintendent I / Maintenance, Facilities Manager and/or the Assistant Superintendent.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ability to work on the grounds of a correctional facility and other MSO facilities and work within the constraints of a correctional setting.
Responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds surrounding a correctional facility. Plants flowers, mows, pulls weeds, repairs structures, and maintains grounds outside of MSO facilities. Perform grounds keeping and building maintenance duties.
Cut lawn using power or riding mower and trim and edge around walkways, flower beds, and walls.
Perform routine maintenance duties such as applying plaster, fixing fountains, and other duties. Sweep walkways of debris.
Install tents and other outdoor structures. Cut down tree limbs and maintain trees on the MSO grounds.
Rake, mulch, and prune the grounds as needed. Water plants and grass as needed.
Ability to keep accurate records, tool/equipment inventory and generate timely reports as required.
Operate machinery and equipment to perform the duties noted above.
Knowledge of construction safety requirements. Knowledge and/or willingness to be trained on components found in a correctional facility.
Must be able to work independently and well with others.
Ability to think on their feet and troubleshoot any number of problems.
Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
Be punctual, reliable, and well organized, having the ability to prioritize tasks.
