FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE: Independently performs semiskilled preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance tasks associated with the upkeep and operation of various types of mail processing, buildings and building equipment, customer service and delivery equipment. Maintains an awareness of equipment operation, especially excessive heat, vibration, and noise, reporting malfunctions hazards or wear to supervisor. Uses a variety of hand and power tools, gauging devices and test equipment required, or as directed, to perform the above tasks. May drive a vehicle to transport tools, equipment, employees materials or in the normal performance of assigned duties. Completes or initiates work record sheets, as required. Takes readings from meters, gauges, counters and other monitoring and measuring devices. Maintains logs and other required records; reports on breakdowns and equipment being tested. Follows established safety practices and requirements while performing all duties. May serve as a working leader over a group of lower-level employees assigned to a specific task. A Maintenance Technician (Maintenance Mechanic, Electrician) is in charge of performing ongoing Equipment maintenance and completing repairs on equipment. Their duties include fixing machinery, wiring, inspecting equipment to confirm safety standards and scheduling major repairs with the equipment's inhabitants. PARK MAINTENANCE (SEASONAL) JOB TITLE: PARK MAINTENANCE (SEASONAL) DEPARTMENT: PARKS AND RECREATION/PARK SERVICES MUST MEET MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must be 16 years of age or older; must possess a valid driver's license or a picture I.D. and an original social security card. NATURE OF WORK: The purpose of this position is to work with other seasonal employees performing manual labor, maintenance, and repair work for the purpose of maintaining and repairing Clayton County International Park. SOME OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES INCLUDE: Performs general ground maintenance to include: grass cutting, trimming, edging, cutting of shrubs, pruning trees, landscaping grounds, and weed control of grounds; performs maintenance and of Park buildings, grounds, facilities, equipment, and structures to ensure the facility is ready each day for the general public; garbage policing and control; cleaning of grills, pavilions, park equipment, vehicles, sidewalks, parking lots, policing of park lakes and picnic areas and perimeter fence area inside and outside; cleaning and upkeep of bathroom facilities; prepares pavilions and buildings for functions, setting up chairs and tables to service the functions and ensuring clean up during the post function phase; maintain assigned tool and equipment used in ground maintenance of park; performing preventive maintenance and routine repair on tools and equipment as needed; ensuring tools and supplies are properly cleaned, stored, and secured; maintaining order in equipment storage area; providing information, assistance and directions to the general public regarding the Park and facilities. Performs other related duties as required. **Some evenings and weekends may be required** Performs skilled and manual labor maintaining park grounds and recreation facilities. Operates light to medium size tractor and construction equipment and performs general maintenance, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Operates and maintains tractor with mower attachment, dump truck and other light and medium construction equipment. Performs minor repairs on equipment, mowers, and vehicles. Inspects playgrounds, develops written report of inspections, and performs needed repairs. Reads and interprets simple plans and blueprints. Performs plumbing, electrical and carpentry construction and maintenance tasks on all park facilities. Paints signs and park buildings and facilities. Cuts grass and trims trees and hedges; plants and maintains grass, shrubs and trees in parks. Cleans park and recreation facilities; cleans pavilions, scrubs toilets, sinks and urinals, sweeps and mops floors, picks up trash, replenish supplies in restrooms. Lines and sets-up football and softball fields according to league rules and regulations; repairs playground equipment; transport tables and chairs and sets-up for events.
