The City of Saint Charles Human Resources Department is recruiting for a full-time Field Maintenance Worker within the Public Works Sewer Division. This position performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks and operates equipment for the construction, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City sewer, street, and storm drainage systems. Special attention to detail should be given when this equipment is in use to help prevent accidents. This equipment should only be used after proper training has been conducted and approval is given by the Director of Grounds and Equipment.
C. In the event of a snowstorm, coordinate with the Director of Grounds and Equipment when to report to work.
6. Campus Day:
A. Assist the Director of Grounds with the organization of materials, tools, and supplies before the morning of the event.
B. Manage and assist volunteer crews to complete assigned tasks correctly, on time, and in a professional and safe manner.
C. Assist with all clean up and storage of all materials, tools, and supplies before leaving for the day.
7. Emergency Response:
A. Respond to related departmental emergency situations.
B. Rearrange priority of work schedule to accommodate any emergency situations.
C. Assume further responsibility as appointed by the Director of Grounds and Equipment, Director of Facilities and Operations, or the Facilities and Operations Managers.

Apply Now JOB OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on buildings, grounds, systems and equipment of parks. Park Maintenance Workers inspect the facilities and grounds for safety and repair damaged or missing features. The work is performed under the supervision of Park Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Performs preventative maintenance and repairs to buildings, landscape features, tools, vehicles and machinery. Troubleshoots problems, takes and recommends course of action to repair features.
* Operates a wide variety of tools and machinery including trucks, one ton dump trucks, single and tandem axle dump trucks, tractors, rollers, snow plows, chain saws, blowers, welders, weed eaters, mowers, jack hammers, rotary drills, saws, sprayers, air compressors, come-along, floats, sweepers, picks, axes, shovels, carpenter and mechanic's tools.
* Performs safety inspections of grounds.
* Performs metal fabrication tasks. Operates welders and cutting and soldering torches. Fabricates parts.
* Performs installation and maintenance to landscape features including painting, sealing and fencing. Repairs potholes, removes, places and finishes concrete and asphalt surfaces along trails, park roadways and parking areas.
* Assist Horticulture and Natural Resource personnel to construct and maintain natural areas when needed. Performs annual landscaping requirements such as, pruning of trees, annual planting and replanting of trees, flowers, and shrubs. Applies appropriate fertilizer and seed to common grounds areas.
* Performs turf maintenance tasks including fertilizing, seeding, watering, mowing and trimming. Rakes Prunes trees and shrubs. Removes trees and shrubs.
* Assist with park programming staff to build and prepare areas/items for park program use.
* Cleans, maintains, repairs both equipment and vehicles. Monitors equipment operation, tracks hours and recommends repairs or replacement.
* Maintains multiple underground sprinkler systems and splashpad play features.
* Hauls and transports materials including but not limited to rock, sand, dirt, mulch and salt to parks for use.
* Loads, safely secures and transports machinery and equipment from park to park for use.
* Acts as lead focus person for call-up of snow removal personal. Operates snow removal equipment and removes snow in parks during winter. Sweeps curbs and parking lots. Removes snow and ice from walkways, parking lots and building entrances. Spreads salt.
* Keeps an accurate inventory of materials needed for snow removal and places purchase orders to fulfill needs.
* Performs general custodial duties in all park facilities.
* Performs plumbing, carpentry, construction/fabrication projects and electrical, light building maintenance. Completes work orders documenting supplies used, time spent on projects and job completion status.
* Suggests capital projects for grounds enhancements as necessary and required and related to county grounds and supporting systems.
* Maintains a supply inventory of items needed for grounds repair, upkeep and improvements. Places purchase orders for low inventory items such as fertilizer, mulch, pesticides and insecticides.
* Cleans shop and organizes tools.
* Coordinates, escorts and assists repair service personnel and contractors.
* Moves equipment in buildings.
* Maintains knowledge of County Park system.
* May be periodically required to assist in Park Programming and activities outside of normal job duties and hours.
* Performs other maintenance for special features in specific parks.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
