About the Role: The Maintenance Technician maintains industrial machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand, and power tools. This position moves, assembles, installs, or dismantles machinery. The technician will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems and repairs or replaces broken parts as necessary. This is a dual craft role. Operates snow removal equipment and removes snow in parks during winter. Sweeps curbs and parking lots. Removes snow and ice from walkways, parking lots and building entrances. Spreads salt. * Keeps an accurate inventory of materials needed for snow removal and places purchase orders to fulfill needs. * Performs general custodial duties in all park facilities. * Performs plumbing, carpentry, construction/fabrication projects and electrical, light building maintenance. Completes work orders documenting supplies used, time spent on projects and job completion status. * Suggests capital projects for grounds enhancements as necessary and required and related to county grounds and supporting systems. * Maintains a supply inventory of items needed for grounds repair, upkeep and improvements. Places purchase orders for low inventory items such as fertilizer, mulch, pesticides and insecticides. * Cleans shop and organizes tools. * Coordinates, escorts and assists repair service personnel and contractors. * Moves equipment in buildings. * Maintains knowledge of County Park system. * May be periodically required to assist in Park Programming and activities outside of normal job duties and hours. * Performs other maintenance for special features in specific parks. * Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: * Education * General/technical high school diploma or GED equivalent. * Job experience * A valid class A Commercial driver's license with air brake certification or have the ability to obtain one within six months of employment. * Possess work experience and training relevant to the job. * 2 years of responsible work experience preferably in grounds maintenance.
