A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A MAINTENANCE WORKER I - STREETS As part of our Street Department, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of city streets and related infrastructure. Generally, your schedule will be daytime hours Monday through Friday, with required shifts during winter street clearing events. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Performs preventative maintenance and repairs to buildings, landscape features, tools, vehicles and machinery. Troubleshoots problems, takes and recommends course of action to repair features. * Operates a wide variety of tools and machinery including trucks, one ton dump trucks, single and tandem axle dump trucks, tractors, rollers, snow plows, chain saws, blowers, welders, weed eaters, mowers, jack hammers, rotary drills, saws, sprayers, air compressors, come-along, floats, sweepers, picks, axes, shovels, carpenter and mechanic's tools. * Performs safety inspections of grounds. * Performs metal fabrication tasks.
