CLASS CHARACTERISTICS Maintenance Aides may be assigned a variety of routine medium to heavy laboring tasks related to the custodial maintenance of parks, streets, and City facilities. This differs from Maintenance Worker I, Groundskeeper-Gardener, Equipment Utility Worker I, and Utility Worker I who are required to perform work requiring greater job skills and less supervision. Normal work assignments may include evenings and weekends. Incumbents may be assigned to various departments in the City. Appointees to positions within this class shall be limited to appointments not to exceed 1000 hours (125) days in a fiscal year.     PRIMARY PURPOSE: This position is accountable for troubleshooting, repairs and performing preventive maintenance relative to the mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing systems and physical structural elements of the center.
